Sylvia Feelus Levy
Funeral services for Sylvia
Feelus Levy, mother-in-law of
Byron resident Theodore A.
Feitshans, were held at Plaza
Memorial Chapel in Manhattan,
New York City recently. Theodore
A. Feitshans is the son of Richard
and Jean Feitshans, owners of
Mossy Creek Farms and long-time
residents of Perry. Her death marks
the passing of the last person bom
to the Feelus family.
Sylvia Feelus Levy was an
outstanding teacher and scholar as
well as a beloved cook, mother,
grandmother, mother-in-law,
neighbor and friend. Sylvia Feelus
Levy was the mother of Fred Levy
and Ilise Levy Feitshans, the
grandmother of Jay Levy Feitshans
and Emalyn Levy Feitshans, and
the widow of the late Jack Levy
Esq. She graduated Hunter College
with a B.A. and had a Masters of
Science in Education from Lehman
College, which she applied in her
work as a teacher of Mentally
Retarded Young Adults in New
York City. A memorial is also
planned at the McSweeney
Occupational Training Center, in
the near future.
In May, 1994, Sylvia Feelus
Levy was one of 25 women selected
by the Riverdale Press as "Mother
of the Year" based on an essay.
A Memorial Fund has been
established to create the Jack and
Sylvia Feelus Levy Puppet Theatre
at Wave Hill. Wave Hill is a 26
acre park and cultural preserve two
blocks west of the home of Jack
and Sylvia Feelus Levy. It was the
home of Mark Twain and other
notables, and one-time visiting
residence of the Queen of England.
Donations in her memory and in
memory of her late husband. Jack
Levy, Esq. can be sent to: Jack and
Sylvia Feelus Levy Puppet Theatre.

1994 in a Douglas hospital. Bom
in Calhoun County, she was a
member of New Light Freewill
Baptist church and the Ladies
Auxiliary. Survivors: children,
Pauline H Willis and Margie H
Rogers, both of Douglas, Sarah H
Hobbs of Waycross. William G
Hawke of Albany, and Joseph S
Haw ke of Perry ; 11 grandchildren;
and two great grandchildren
Services: Were held Saturday.
Oct. 29, 1994 in the New Light
Freewill Baptist Church at 2 p m
Burial look place in the church
cemetery. The Ralph Lightsey
officiated. Contributions may be
made to the New Light Freewill
Baptist Church Kimbrell-Stem
Funeral Home in Albany had charge
of arrangements.
Sammie L. Holmes
Sammie L. "Son" Holmes, died
Saturday. Oct. 29, 1994 in a local
hospital Bom in Houston County,
he was the son of the late Will and
Estella Holmes. Survivors:
wife, Jannie Dunn Holmes of

Motley, 101, of Barnesville, died
Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1994 at her
residence. Born in Talbot County,
she was the daughter of the late
John Brandon and Emma Marshall
Miller. She had lived in

Macon College seminar designed for mature adults
