Council (HODAC): A free
rape support group meets on
Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at Houston

American Legion, Robert D.
Collins Post 24 meets the first
Monday night of each month at the
County Ag Building at 733 Carroll
Street. Meals are served beginning
at 7 p.m. All American Legion
members are urged to attend and
visiting Legionaries are welcome.
Perry Rotary Club meets
each Monday at noon at the New
Perry Hotel.
Perry Exchange Club meets
each Thursday at Quincy's at noon.
Houston County Retired
Teachers meets the 2nd
Wednesday of each month at 11:30
a m. at the Holiday Inn in Warner
Robins.
November 26: The Warner
Robins Jaycees will be sponsoring
Peach State Wrestling at 8 p in. at
the Warner Robins Civic Center.
The proceeds will benefit the
Warner Robins Safe House for
Battered Women and Children.

but the Warner Robins library is

During the 1993-94 year, 21.467
Warner Robins residents received
library cards. A total of 9.217 were
issued to county residents. 3,493
were issued to Perry residents and
1,773 were issued to residents of
Centerville A total ol 2,987 other
c;irds were issued to people from
other counties and to individuals
who live in base housing facilities.

totaled over $314,690. Expenses
tor the Perry library were $178,346
and for the Centerville library were
$69,186.
During the 199.3-94 year, the City
of Warner Robins provided
$178,550.70 for the Warner Robins
library. The City of Perry provided
$40,264.72 oi the local library's
budget and the City of Centerville
provided $1.3,754.61 for the Cen
terville iibrary. Houston County
Commission provided $134,721.69
to the system.

Kiwanis Club, said,”We are the
losers in losing a man such as Earl

involved himself.”
Earl Cheek, past President of
Perry Kiwanis Club, said, “Earl
was a dedicated Kiwanian. He was
interested in the betterment of the
community and any activity that
would make Perry a better
place.. he was for it. He was active
in the club until his illness.”
Fellow churchman and Kiwanian
L. Cohen Walker said of Lewis,
“Earl Lewis was civic-minded and
wanted the best for his community.
He was willing to do more than his
part to make it so. He was a loyal
church man in his attendance and in
his service. Although he was my
competitor in business for many
years, he was my good friend. He
was always honest and fair in his
dealings. Perry has lost one of its
finest citizens.”
Rep Larry Walker phoned to say.
“He was always smiling, always
friendly. He had a pleasant
personality and demeanor. He was

November 19*14 to March 1995.

nor factors have delayed renovations
underway at the annex
''lf it is completed by March, the
city should be able to occupy the
school board office next door by
summer." Mayor James E. Worrall
said last week. He stated that as
soon as the school board moved
into the annex, the city would be
gin renovating the current school
board building to use as an addition
to the current Perry City Hall.

Marsha Haley of the New Perry
Hotel, said, “1 highly regarded him
- respected him all my life. He was
always a friendly, generous person
and thought well of others."
Billy Beckham, who grew up just
a few doors from the Lewis family,
said,"He was a perfect gentleman
...a good businessman. He loved
his family, church and community.
He was a capable head of the Perry
Housing Authority and was a good
neighbor."
The funeral for Earl F. Lewis will
be held at the Perry United
Methodist Church on Wednesday,
Nov. 23, at 3 p .m. with interment
in the Evergreen Cemetery in Perry.
The officiating clergy will be his
