Death notices
James L. Bedsole
WARNER ROBINS-James L.
Bedsole, 64, of Warner Robins, died
Friday, Nov. 18, 1994 in a Dublin
hospital after an extended illness.
Bom in Jackson, he had lived in
Warner Robins the past 39 years.
He was a retired civil service em
ployee from Robins Air Force
Base. He was a Navy veteran who
served during the Korean War, was
a member of the VFW and the
Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge
No. 1688. He was also a Master
Mason and a member of Bethel
Baptist Church. Survivors:
wife, Dorothy Bedsole of Warner
Robins; daughters, Yvonee Davis
and Sharon Sapp, both of Warner
Robins; sister and brother, Sandra
Gammage of Warner Robins, and
Wayne Bedsole of Kathleen; three
grandchildren; and a great-grand
child.
Services: Were held Sunday,
Nov. 21, 1994 in the Bethel Baptist
Church at 2 p.m. Burial took place
in the Magnolia Park Cemetery.
James Bruco Davis
PERRY- James Bruce "J. 8."
Davis, 78, of 921 Clinchfield Cir
cle died Thursday at his residence.
Bom in Tracy City, Tenn., he was
the son of the late C.E. Davis Sr.,
and the late Winifred Myers Davis.
He was an Army veteran who
served in World War 11 He was a
powerhouse foreman, retired from
Medusa Cement Corporation. He
had lived in Perry since 1928. He
was a Mason and a Shriner. He was
a member of First Baptist Church
and the Courtney Mason Sunday
School Class. Survivors: wife,
Edna Heard Davis of Perry; chil
dren, Winifred Davis of Macon.
Glenda Daniel of Jackson, Isaac
Davis of Perry, and Glenn Davis of
Bamesville; sister, Mary Byrnes of
Claresville; and six grandchildren.
Services: Were held Saturday.
November 19, 1994, in at First
Baptist Church. Burial took place at
Woodlawn Cemetery, Perry. Dr.
John O. Yarbrough officiated. In
lieu of flowers, the family requested
donations to be made to the donor's
favorite charity

Hancock Jr.. 46 died Thursday.
Born in Hahira. be lived in
Nashville and Warner Robins a
number of years. He was a Marine
Corps veteran and a member of St.

Willie B. Colbert
ATLANTA-Willie B. Colbert
Sr., 77, of 2637 Old Hapeville
Road died Thursday. Bom in Macon
County, he was the son of the late
Jack and Georgia Green Colbert. He
attended Macon County public
schools. He was a member of New
Home Baptist Church in Reynolds.
He was the widower of Elnoria
Henderson Colbert and Ethel Mae
Carson Colbert. Prior to moving
to Atlanta, he was a farmer. He was
self-employed in the recycling in
dustry in Atlanta. Survivors:
children, Brenda Colbert of Atlanta,
and Ernest Colbbert, Willie Colbert
Jr., and David Colbert, all of De
catur; stepchildren, Walter Colbert
of Lizella; 21 grandchildren, and 15
great-grandchildren.
Services: Were held Wednes
day , November 16, at Wilbur Hall
AME Chruch, Oglethorpe. Burial
was held at Hicks Cemetery,
Reynolds. The Rev. Alvin Turner
officiated. Hicks & Sons Funeral
Home in Reynolds was in charge of
the arrangements.
Earl F. Lewis
PERRY-Earl F. Lewis, 80. of
1204 Beckham Circle, died
Tuesday. Nov. 22, 1994 in a local
hospital. Bom in Havana. Fla., he
was the son of the late Leslie and
Jessie Wells Lewis. He was
married to Christine W Lewis and
was a retired Owner and Operator at
Lewis Truck & Tractor He is
preceded in death by one child. Earl
Fredrick Lewis Jr. Lewis was very
active in community affairs and was
a past president of the Perry Area
Chamber of Commerce, past
president of the Perry Kiwanis
Club, past president of the Ga.
Farm Equipment Association, Man
of the Year for Kiwanis in 1984,
was an Outstanding Member of the
local chamber in 1984 and was
currently chairman of the Perry
Housing Authority. He was a
member of Perry United Methodist
Church, a past trustee, past adm

board chairman and past president of
the Howell Cobb S.S. Class at the
church. An Army veteran of WWII,
he was a member of die American
Legion and the VFW.
Upon the request of the family,
contributions may be made to the
Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund or
to Perry United Methodist Church.
Survivors: wife, Christine W.
Lewis of Perry; son. Stanley M.
Lewis of Perry; brother, Roy Lewis
of Havana, FI.; two sisters, Grace
L. Ward of Havana, FI. and Dorris
L. Belk of Tallahassee, FI.; four
grandchildren and one great-grand
child.
Services: Will be held today,
Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. at Perry United
Mediodist Church with Dr. Marcus
Tripp officiating. Burial will take
place following the funeral at
Evergreen Cemetery in Perry.
Watson Hunt Funeral Home in
Perry is in charge of arrangements.
Susan Hall Santowski
HUDSON. FL.-Susan Hall Sen
towski, 51, of Hudson, Fl„ died
Monday, Nov. 14, 1994 at a VA
hospital in Florida. Born in At
lanta, she was the daughter of the
late Cecil Hall and Jennye Holland
Hall. She was married to Donald R.
Sentowski and was a licensed prac
tical nurse. A retired tech sgt serv
ing 20 years in the Air Force, she
had resided in Hudson for three
years. She was a Baptist and grew
up in Cochran and attended Cochran
High School. Survivors: hus
band, Donald R. Sentowski of Hud
son, FI.; brother Peter Hall of
Kathleen and aunt Mary Andrews of
Kathleen.
Services: Were held Thurs
day. Nov. 17 at Watson-Hunt
chapel at 11 a m. with Rev. Glenn
Sheppard officiating. Graveside ser
vices with full military' honors was
held following the funeral at Ander
sonvitle National Cemetery. Wat
son-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry
was in charge of arrangements.
John Arvle Coffman
PERRY- John Arvle Coffman,
70, of 1508 Main St., died Sunday,
Nov. 20, 1994 in a Macon hospi
tal. Bom in Rome, Ga., he had
lived in Perry for the past 50 years
He was the son of the late Ham
mond Coffman and Annie Akin
Coffman and the husband of Anna
Harris. He was a retired shift re
pairman for Medusa Cement Corp
He was a member of the United
Cement Lime & Gypsum Local

Coffman, son of Arvel Coffman of
108 Airport Road and Lois Green of
148 Felton Road, Perry, recently
completed the Small Arms Repair
Course and was promoted to his
current rank.
The 1994 graduate of Perry High
School joined the Marine Corps in
March 1994.

Annual Christmas festival
is just around the corner

The season to be jolly has arrived
and Perryans will have ample op
portunity to celebrate the holiday
season as the Perry chamber, local
businesses and members of the
community gear up for the annual
Christmas at the Crossroads Festi
val.
This year's parade will be held at 2
p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. The parade
begins at Kellwood Drive and will
proceed through Main Street around
to Carroll Street and end at the
chamber office on Washington
Street. To participate in the parade,

City to renegotiate cable agreement
The cable franchise between
Perry and Peachstate Cable is in for
an overhaul, the Perry City Council
decided at their last meeting.
The franchise agreement was
signed in March, 1967 between the
city and local residents Robert W.
Gilbert and Lowell Register.
Gilbert and Register sold the fran
chise to Peachstate Cable shortly
thereafter.
The current franchise agreement
ends March 16, 2002. The franchise
does not give Peachstate Cable a

rade are the annual 5K Run/Walk
race, pictures with Santa, the Ki
wanis Club Pancake Breakfast and
city-wide sales.
The Community Candlelight Ser
vice, a highlight of the festival,
will be held at the Courthouse
Square on Carroll Street Sunday,
Dec. 4 from 7-8 p.m.
Other events are being scheduled
by local churches, businesses and
schools. Brochures listing a com
plete schedule of events can be
picked up at local businesses or at
the chamber office.

Williams said that some of the lan
guage in the franchise agreement
was out-of-date. She also said that
the city was seeking to increase the
franchise fee from three percent of
Peachstate Cable's revenues to five
percent.
The city is waiting to receive a
written franchise agreement from
their cable consultant.
