Foster and Bloodworth united in marriage July 9
The Oak Grove United
Methodist Church in Decatur, Ga.,
was the setting for the candlelight
wedding ceremony uniting
Elizabeth Carden Foster, daughter
of Dr. and Mrs. Harry R. Foster,
Jr., of Lithonia, and James Romey
Bloodworth, Jr., son of Dr. and
Mrs. James R. Bloodworth of
Perry.
The double ring marriage
ceremony took place on Saturday
evening, July 9, 1994, with Dr. G.
Gil Watson officiating and Dr.
Joseph M. Hendricks delivering the
homily.
Altar decorations were
canddelabra and Boston fern.
Family pews were marked with
ivory satin ribbons and rubrum
lilies.
A prelude of classical music was
presented by C. Warren Little,
recently retired principal flutist of
die Atlanta Symphony Orchestra,
Susan Ottzen, harpist, and David
Buice, Oak Grove organist. The
bride studied flute with Mr. Little
for several years. Soloist for the
occasion was Everett A. Kendall, 11,
of Columbia, S.C.
The bride, given in mttrriage by
her parents and escorted by her
father, was radiently lovely in a
beautifully tailored English-style
gown of ivory silk dupioni which
featured a basque waist bodice and
puffed sleeves, accented with soft
bows, Venetian lace and silk
rosettes. The train fell to chapel
length and was accented with
Venetian lace, silk rosettes and a
custom made bustle. Her tulle
fingertip veil, designed to match her
gown, fell from a band of silk
rosettes and seed pearls. She carried
a summer bouquet of ivory and
Oceania roses.
Miss Rebecca Louise Davidson
of Lithonia was maid of honor.
Bridal attendants were Miss Denise
Bailey of Conyers. Miss Tracey
Bloodworth, sister of the groom, of
Perry, Mrs. Nancy Kendall of
Columbia. S.C., Miss Teresa
Skinner ;uid Miss Anne Strange of
Greenville, S.C. They were attired
in a Jessica McClintock design of
fitted tea length teal brocade
featuring a sweetheart neckline and
accented by a Victorian pearl

Conyers, cousin of tire bride, was
the junior attendant. She was
attired in a matching Jessica
McClintock design of tea length
teal brocade featuring a full skirt
and ruffled sleeves.
The attendants carried summer
bouquets of pink roses and rubrum
lilies. Their tear drop pearl earrings
were gifts from the bride.
The gnxrm’s father served as his
best man. Gr.*umsmen were
Robert Borders of Houston. Texas,
Harry Foster. 111, brother of the
bride, of Lithonia, Jeffrey Brady.

She is the great-granddaughter of
Mrs. Esther Thompson of Clune,
Pennsylvania. A graduate of Perry
High School, she received an
associates degree in education from
Middle Georgia College. She is
also a Cum Laude graduate of
Georgia Southwestern College
where she received a bachelor's
degree in special education and is a
member of Zeta Tau Alpha. She is
currently employed as a teacher at
Warner Robins Middle Georgia
School.

Following the wedding
ceremony. Dr. and Mrs. Foster
hosted a buffet reception in the Oak
Grove Fellowship Hall. In keeping
with a summer garden theme, the
hall was decorated throughout with
arrangements of rubrum lilies.
Queen Ann’s lace, snap-dragons,
Ocenia roses. Monte casino,
bouvardia and Casa Blanca lilies.
Topiaries of ivy and rubrum lilies
enhanced the windows. The bullet
and guest tables were draped in
ivory satin with lace overlays. Hie
bride's French cream four tiered cake
was adorned with summer (lowers
and topped with a bouquet of

die guest registry where a formal
portrait of the bride was displayed
and miniature photos of the bride
were given as wedding mementos.
Guests enjoyed traditional music for
harp and flute presented by Susan
Ottzen and C. Warren Little.
The bridal luncheon, given by
Rebecca Davidson and Denise
Bailey, was held at The Porch of
the Swan Coach House. A
highlight of the luncheon was die
"Victorian Ribbon Pulling" in
which each bridesmaid pulled a
lucky sterling charm from a small
bridal cake. The rehearsal dinner
was hosted by the groom's parents
at the Peasant Uptown, Phipps
Plaza, on Friday evening prior to
the wedding.
Following a wedding trip to
Bermuda, the couple make their
home in Augusta where diey are
diird year medical students at the
Medical College of Georgia School
of Medicine.
During their engagement, die
bride and groom were honored
guests on numerous occasions. In
December, Dr. and Mrs. Foster
entertained with a Christmas Open
House and Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth R.
Dean hosted an engagement dinner
at their Atlanta home. In March,
Teresa Skinner and Anne Strange,
Furman classmates of die bride,
hosted a Linen and Lace show in
Greenville, S.C. In April, Ray and
Joan Williford of Conyers
entertained with a dinner at the Blue
Willow Inn in Social Circle; a
Basket shower luncheon was given
by the bride's paternal aunts, Anne
I)c;in. Ina Moore and Betty Pate, at
the Magnolia Tea Room in Stone
Mountain.
Darla Carden, aunt of the bride,
hosted a miscellaneous shower for
family and friends in Lithonia;
Mary Murray and Hal Jenkins,
medical school classmates of the
couple, entertained with a barbecue,
followed by a Home and Garden
shower in Augusta. A
miscellaneous shower was given in
perry by Gayle Borah. Peggy Brett,
Terrv Cooper, Mary Perdue, Susan
