God sent His son to establish His kingdom
"Bui when the fulness of the lime
came. God sent forth His Son. bom
of a woman, bom under the law.”
Galatians 4:4
It was God’s plan to send forth
His Son, at just the right time, to
establish a kingdom that would last
forever.
The idea of the coming kingdom
is clearly seen in God’s promise to
Abraham that all the nations on the
earth would be blessed through
him From Abniharn onward, God
gradually revealed that a descendant
of Abraham . Isaac, and Jacob
would be the promised “Son of
Man”
I his Man would be the Lord’s
anointed King, a God-Man, the
Messiah, who would bring freedom
and justice and peace to die people
of God,
God spent four thousand years
preparing the world for the
appearance of His Son. During that
time He showed He can also make a
human by using part of His
creation plus more dust of the earth,
like He made Eve.
Next, He established the law of
natural generation, using a man and
a woman: the way all of us were
made.
On specific occasions, God
divinely empowers a man and a
woman who are past normal child
bearing ages to beget children. He
thus gave children to Abraham and
Sarah, and Elisabeth and Zacharias.
When tiod intended for His Son
to become a man, He announced
through His prophets that a virgin
would conceive and bear a Son.
The name of His Son would be
Immanuel, or God With Us.
Ciod decided how and when His
Son would come into the world to
become our Savior. He sent the
angel Gabriel to a virgin in
Nazareth to m;ike a magnificent
announcement. Gabriel told Mary
that, by the power of God the Holy
Spirit, she would conceive and bear
a son. This Son would be great,,
His kingdom would never cad, and
she was to name him Jcsuus.
Before Gabriel depaarted from
Mary, he quieted all of her fears and
questions. Gabriel helped Mafy

The unique birth of Jesus
confronts us with the astounding
power and mysterious ways of Ihe
Living God. Jesus’ virgin birth,
the angel choir, the Magi's star, the
Bethlehem inn, and the prophecy
fulfilled, are all so simple, so
sublime, and so wonderfully
impossible for anyone but God.
As we bow our hearts and bend
our minds to behold the wonders
God has already performed, may we
be encouraged to hope, wait, and
dust in Him for new work in our
own lives.
“For nothing will be impossible
with God.” Luke 1:37.
