WEYERHAEUSER GIFT Weyerhaeuser Co.'s Flint River Operation, located
In Oglethorpe, recently donated $2,000 to the City of Perry for the purchase
of chairs and tables for the new recreation complex meeting room at Rozar
Park. Unpacking the new equipment after it arrived are, from left, Mayor
Jim Worrall, Recreation Program Director Terri Lovell, City Recreation
Director Tom Dominey, Weyerhaeuser Logistics Unit Manager Paul Davis and
Weyerhaeuser Public Affairs Assistant Janet McElmurray. Worrall thanked
Weyerhaeuser for "being a good corporate neighbor and their continuing
support for the city's recreation program." Contributions to the center are
still being accepted. For more information, call the recreation department at

VOCA students take region honors
Twenty-two PHS VOCA
students, instructor Dickey Irwin
and chtiperone Leona Peterman went
to Dooly County High School in
Vienna on Feb. 18, for the region
competition.

represented Perry High School during the 15th annual
Math Olympics at Macon College. The competition
included 16 public and private schools from the
midstate area.

LPNs on duty at detention centers
The Houston County Hospital
and the Houston County
Commission began providing a
licensed practical nurse (LPN) in
the county's two detention facilities
Monday.
Working under the clinical
supervision of detention center's
physicians, Dr. Luther Vance, Jr.,
and Dr. Alan Woolery, the LPN
will be responsible for providing
routine health care checks for
inmates and dispensing
medications as needed.
Additionally, the LPN will develop
a program for the management of
Dr. Stark gains certification
Dr. Richard Rey Sunk, a native
of Perry and a member of the Clark
Holder Clinic staff in LaGrange,
has been certified by the American
Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Stark attended Georgia
College at Milledgeville and earned
his bachelor's of science degree
from Georgia State University.
He attended the Medical College
of Georgia; graduating in 1991.
His internship and residency were
served at Erlanger Medical Center in
Chattanooga, Tenn.
Stark graduated from Perry High
School in June 1983. His wife is
the former Leena Nirhamo, who
was an exchange student from
Finland at Perry High School. They
have two children Aaron 4, and Sara
2. The Starks moved to LaGrange
in the summer of 1994.
Dr. Stark is the son of William
H. Stark of Kathleen and Mary Lou
Stark of Atlanta.

Perry, portrayed the character Mary
Windrod during the Feb. 16-18
production of The Rimers of
Eldritch at Wilbraham and Monson
Academy in Wilbraham, Ma.

us to reduce our healthcare costs by
being able to provide those routine
services at the detention center."
