Episcopal parishes to meet new vicar
The members of two local
Episcopal Parishes St.
Christopher’s at the Crossroads,
Perry and St. Mary's, Montezuma
invite the public to meet their new
Vicar, the Rev. Canon John
Buchanan, and participate in
worship and study during Lent.
Each Thursday during Lent there
is a brief worship service at 6:30
p.m. at St. Christopher's, followed
by a light supper and a time of
study and discussion of the people
who and the times which produced
the young rabbi, Jesus of Nazareth.
The evening's activities are
concluded by 8:30.
Buchanan, a native of Texas, has
lived in Macon since 1977. He was
educated at Mercer and Yale
Divinity School.
Since being ordained an
Episcopal priest in 1971 he has
served parishes in Texas, Georgia,
Paris, France; Brussels, Belgium;
and Florence, Italy. Most recently
he was priest in charge of St.
Luke's, Hawkinsville.

Cardiac series
resumes at HMC
The Cardiac Series continues
March 27, at Houston Medical
Center in Warner Robins. The
upcoming program is entitles
"Heart Smart Eating."
The guest speaker will be Debra
Pittman, RDLD, dietician at
Houston Medical Center. Each
participant should bring a "Heart
Smart" covered dish and recipe to
the meeting to share.
The program will be held at
Houston Medical Center in the
basement classrooms from 7 p.m.
to 8 p.m.
Brandy Baxley
wins contest
Brandy Baxley of Perry High
School placed first in the 1995
District I, FFA/EMC Wiring
Contest, held March 7, in Tifton.
The contest is sponsored by
Georgia's electric cooperatives, in
cooperation with the Future
Fanners of America and the Georgia
Electric Membership Corporation.
Involved in the contest is a hands
on wiring program, multiple choice
exam, and an oral presentation. For
his efforts, Brandy will be awarded a
$325 scholarship and a plaque at the
Georgia FFA Annual Convention.
