STUDENTS HONORED Students of the Month for October at
Perry Middle School were treated to a special luncheon with their par
ents on Oct. 31. The students were presented with certificates and
bumper stickers by the school and with a gift certificate and treat by
Wanda Sullivan of W. D. Sullivan's. Sullivan's is one of the school's
business partners. Students of the Month for October were: Charles
McGhee, Allison Bassler, Samantha Skellie, A.J. Winchesterm Amy
Shelton, Darius Rawls, Emily Jones, Bradley Dugger, and Amanda
Hamsley. They are pictured with Wanda Sullivan.

SPECIAL HELP With help from the Wal-Mart Foundation, teach
ers at King's Chapel Elementary School will be aided in improving the
quality of education for their students. Associates at the Macon Wal-
Mart Return Center are presenting the school with a SI,OOO check
earmarked for the "Accelerated Reading Program" where students
are encouraged to read books carefully, take tests on the books read
and then earn points for field trips and educational prizes. The money
will he used to purchase books and instructional items which will have
a direct impact on improving learning at Kings Chapel Elementary.
As part of the retailer's commitment to education the Wal-Mart
Foundation supports educational programs in schools across the
country. The Focus on Education grants are funding projects to help
Adopt-A-Schoo! "in-kind" programs, Libraries fund raisers, Athletic
field renovations, fund raisers lor band (I activities and Debate teams.
"We are 311 concerned about the education of our children because
our future lies in the hands of our young generations " said Bill
Williams. General Manager of the Wal-Mart Return Center "What bet
ter way to address this issue than to support educational programs
that makes an Investment in our young people and helps improve the
quality and character of the communities in which we live. Wal-Mart
Stores Inc. maintains a strong commitment to education. To date the
retailer has contributed millions of dollars to schools throughout the
country and strongly encourages all associates to become involved in
helping to mold the educational system for the community.
