The move from old to ness at Pens Cits hall is
nearing completion
Workers began last week to move furniture and
othci items front the 12(C Washington St hnation to
the lormei Board ol Fducation building next dooi
Pens City Manager Skip Nalles said that as ol
Dec In. the new location is up and reads to accorn
module cits customers
1 lie move has gone much smoothei than we
expected, said Nalles "We still have a lot ol .porks
in the phone system and are asking people to be
patient with us
Nalles said the absence ol directional signage
may cause some contusion, but the public's best bet
to get ss’here they ss.mt to go is to come through the
front doors that lace the parking lot and speak to the
receptionist on duty
Nalles also asks utility customers to eithei mail
their payments or bring them inside to the utility
department
A new outside depository that ssj' delisered a
less days ago has gone back to the compans that
delivered it because the drop box was damaged dur
mg delivery, said Nalles
There ssill eventually be an outside drop box lor
utility payments, he said
The former city hall building noss houses the
police and fire departments, said Nalles
At present, those departments are ssorking to uti
li/e the extra space
Improvements on that building will probably take
place after the approval ol the next liscal budget
said Nalles
"The carpet in that building needs to be replaced
but we are working under a tight budget he said
"They are going to have to scan until next year's
budget
A list ol ness cits hall telephone numbers can be
lound on page 4 ol this section ol the Houston
