Holiday Cactus come in three types
which bloom at different times of the
year They flower at Thanksgiving.
Christmas and Faster All three require
bright light and moderate moisture
levels South lacing windows arc good
places for holiday cacti
After six weeks of bloom, remove

be grown outside in spring and sum

They flower based on day length so
they should bloom at the same time

Frost will kill the plants and they are
hard to re-bloom, but many can be

well after handling fruit.
Chrysanthemums come in two
types, pot mums (which are killed by
frost) and garden mums (which are
perennials). Most mums sold for the

Mayor seeks
volunteers
for city tasks
Editor:
The city of Perry has been blessed
through the years in having a large
number of its citizens volunteer to
assist the Mayor and City Council
with various planning projects. In
accordance with the requirements of
our city charter. Mayor and Council
will devote a portion of their first
meeting in January in making appoint
ments to the different committees,
authorities and commissions as desig
nated by the charter
I write this letter encouraging any
citizen interested in advising the
Mayor and members of City Council
in matters they feel important to call
the Mayor of their council member
and volunteer their service to the com
munity.
The groups which will need mem
bers for the coming year include our
Clean Community Commission, the
City of Perry Library Board. Planning
and Zoning Commission. Recreation
Commission, and our Downtown
Development Authority.
If you have an interest in any of
these areas, your community could use
your input

P.A.L. says thanks
Editor:
On behalf of the entire Project
Agap£ Love Committee, we wish to
emend our deepest thanks to the com
munity for its support this year More
than 325 families experienced the joy
of Christmas through a hugh effort
from local businesses, schools,
churches and the public
Even though times are hard, we
have reali/.ed the reason for the sea
son It is evident that through Jesus
Christ's giving himself for our sins we
have learned the importance of giving
We honor Him by celebrating the true
meaning of Christmas
This year the Project Agape Love
program was able to reach its goal and
provide food and toys for each family.
This would not have been possible
without your help. Together we did it!
To all those who gave to these fam
ilies and to all those who volunteered
their time for this cause, we are truly
grateful. When those who received
food boxes and toys said “thank you."
they were speaking to each of you.
Thank you for caring

For P.A.L.
(EDITOR’S NOTE: This news
paper joins P.A.L. leaders in saying
thanks to the many people who
donated to the cause this year. The
need is there. All we must do is rec
ognize it and do something about it)
