Perry City Council okays water/garden meters
From Staff Reposts
Perry residents will have
another chance to get in line for
installation of a water/garden
meter until Aug. 1.
During the July 7 meeting of
the Perry City Council,
Councilman Charles Lewis said
he has been approached by sev
eral citizens who said they
would be interested in such a
purchase.
The meters measure outside
water usage without having a
•ewer charge added.
A few months ago, citizens
were able for a limited time to
purchase garden meters. This
came about after council
removed a cap on sewer charges
and some residents became
upset with skyrocketing water
bills.
Council OK'd Lewis' motion
to implement the program for
two weeks at a cost of $ 100 plus
SSO deposit for a three-quarter
inch line.
Also during the meeting,
council heard from Doug Walter,
resident of an area in Cheshire
Subdivision that has experi
enced flooding problems in the
past.
Walter requested the status of
proposed drainage work to be
done in that area. He was told
that since the proposal by an
engineer regarding a redesign of
a retention pond, nothing has
been done.
