The 16th Grand National Paso
Finn Show and Sale held lasi
week at the Georgia National
Fairgrounds, attracted partici
pants (with their horses) From all
over the United Stales and South
America, as well as plenty ol
area visitors
According to Al Berry, a
spokesman lor the National Paso
l ino Association, the Thursday
auction went particularly well
with horses selling for prices as
high as $30,0(H). The sale began

EXCELLENCE Matt Mortensen, a 1998 gradaute of
Winder-Barrow high School, recently received the
Excellence in Citizenship Award from Secretary of State
Lewis Massey. Mortensen was recognized for his volun
teer service to the community ana scholastic achieve
ment. He is the son of Kerry and Susan Mortensen and
grandson of James and Nancy Thomason of Perry.
Mortensen is currently a freshman music major at The
University of Georgia.
