FLYING GOOD TIME Church Home for

Two Church Home for the
Aged residents take to the skies

Two residents of the Church Home for the
Aged took off to the skies on Oct. 19
Mildred Howard of Chattanooga. Tenn.,
and Eleanor Mayo of West Point. Ga., took part in
Discovery Flight Tours at the Pcrry-Houston
County Airport.
The story begins simply enough Barbara
Stanley. Church Home activities director, spotted an
airplane passing over on a beautiful day. She said
something to the ladies about how much fun it
would be to fly on a lovely day.
Mayo and Howard agreed. Later, Stanley con
tacted the Perry-Houslon County Airport in hopes
they could go flying. Stacy Willis, president of
Willis Aviation, Inc., arranged for them to take a
flight with his Discovery Flight Tours.
At the church home the ladies had a countdown
going on until it was time to fly.
The day finally came and they were on their
way. “Every chance we have to get away, we take
it” sids Mayo. Howard had last flown in 1974 and
had wanted to do it “just for fun.”
Willis piloted the Cessna 172 during the 30-
minute flight that took them over Perry and the
Georgia Agricenter.
