Hornets down
Windsor for
region win
By PHIL CLARK
When you’ve endured a frus
trating season like the Westfield
Hornets, every win is an impor
tant one, and even though it
might not have been ‘pretty, the
45-36 win over Windsor here
Feb. 2 was welcomed by the team
and the fans. It improves die
Hornets to 2-6 in region lAAA
play, with two victories over
Windsor.
Daniel Weir scored six of his
game high 13 points in the first
quarter as Westfield took a 13-6
lead over the visitors. Robert
Causey, who finished with 11,
scored four in the quarter. With
everyone shooting bricks in the
second, and coach Rennie
Atkinson looking for any combi
nation that would work, Windsor
closed the Westfield lead to five
at halftime, as the Hornets led
just 21-16. Causey’s six in the
third helped Westfield open the
lead to eight points, but the
Knights just wouldn’t go away.
Westfield had to take advan
tage of free throw opportunities
in the fourth, and they Barely did,
hitting.six of 11 while Windsor
was outscoring the Hornets four
baskets to three from the floor.
'Hie win was the fourth of the
season for Westfield, the second
in region play, while Windsor
continues to struggle under Jim
Massey and dropped to 3-16 for
the season.

The Tattnall Trojans B-team
boys broke open a close game
with a 10-0 run to start the sec
ond quarter, wiping out a 15-13
Westfield toad on the way to a
55-34 win in die Hornets’ final
game of the season.
Will Hok and Ben Brannen
had led the Hornets to a quick
lead as Brannen hit two baskets
and Hok three, including a three
pointer. But it was downhill the
rest of die way as the Hornets
could never overcome that
Tattnall 10-point run.
Chandler Doughty and
Chandler Green were the cata
lysts for the Trojans as Doughty
scored eight points and Greene
six in a 20-point second quarter.
Tattnall led 33-20 at the half and
as Westfield point guard Kory
Kitchens would say after the
game, “We just played flat. We
never got into a rhythm."
Holt finished with 11 points
for Westfield, but just four after
the first quarter, and his team
mates couldn't pick up the slack.
Brannen finished with five
Bunts, as did Chance Jones.

such icons as Bigfoot, Bearfoot and
Gravedigger. “Tnats die best of the
