Congratulations to Wendy
Walker Gelow, assistant art teacher at
Perdue Elementary. She was a part of
Elements Studio/Gallery s first group
show, PULP, featuring the work of
nine local artists at the opening
reception Feb. 6. The show runs
through March 6, gallery open noon
-5 p.m Thursdays-Sundays, or by
appointment. Elements is a 2,500-
square-foot spare at 342 Rose Ave. in
Payne City that had formerly been a
cotton warehouse. It is nestled among
the Payne Mill Village Antique Mall
and Specialty Shops.
The studio is where two young
artists do their work and the gallery
enables the two to give younger, less
experienced artists a chance to show
their work. Wendy has turned the liv
ing room of her Third Street home
she shares with her young children,
Haley and Gray, into an art studio
where she did the several drawings
andpoetry she entered in PULP.
Tne nine artists and their support
ive invitees produced a huge turnout
Saturday evening. Among Wendy’s
friends and relatives in attendance
were Janice Walker, Stewart, Marti,
Stewart and Jennifer Bloodworth;
James and Nell win Moore; Riley and
Sandra Hunt, Chip and Charlotte
Washington; Bob and Lynda Kelly,
Russell, John Gray, Larry and
Adrienne Walker; David and
Deborah Walker and Haley and Gray
Gelow.
Wendy’s grandmother Judy
Knighton of Albany and two friends
also attended. Her dad, State Rep.
Larry Walker, has since returned
from a trip to Germany.

Special guest was Casey Spinks

answers!
Interesting were the questions and
correct answers.
1. How many days does it take
most Americans to earn enough
money to pay for their food for a
year? 40 days
2. How many days docs the aver

10. What percent of Americans

Gentry showed Kiwanis Club
the impart that agriculture has on
our lives that should not be taken for
granted. For instance, of the USDA
budget of 88.4 billion allotted for
agriculture, only 20.6 percent goes to
form programs. The rest goes to
non-agriculture programs like food
stamps and school lunches. Prices
for pork are forced down by the
monopoly of pork packers
Smithville and IBP that control 83
percent of the hog slaughter market.

It made my day to renew
acquaintances with my former
Riage Qircle South neighbor Paul
Vianey. He and Judy moved to their
Houston Lakeside home in 1982
and took their bright twin daughters
and son along with them. And here
by lies another tale of twins.
Christina “Chris" Leigh Vianey
became STAR student at Perry
High. She graduated from Georgia
College with three majors in com
puter, mathematics and business.
Chris married Doug Smith whom
she met both working at Grady
Hospital they live in Buford and
work in downtown Atlanta.
Stephanie Lynn Vianey attended
Georgia Tech on a Proctor and
Gamble scholarship and received
her degree in economics. She and
Ben Smith (yes, both twins married
Smiths) met at Tech, have four chil
dren, Hannah, Nathan, Tabitha and
Kevin, and have lived all over with
the Air Force. They settled in
Augusta recently where Ben now
works with CVS Pharmacy.
Trie twins have a younger broth
er, Andrew Paul “Andy", who resides
in Lawrencevillc with wife Susan
and son Charles Alexander “Alex".
Dozier and Vivian Blackstock of
Henderson were both admitted to
Perry Hospital Feb. 5 with pneumo
nia. Friends will want to know
Dozier has now been released but
Vivian remains in ICU.
Members of Beltista Club met
Tuesday evening at the Beckham
Cirde home of Anna Pritchett.
Kopie O’Neal read truths from
“Everything I Need to Know I
Learned in Kindergarten.”
Ella Ann Lawson introduced Dr.
Sandra Brenner, Perry Hospital
dietitian, who gave a very interesting
talk about osteoporosis. We learned
that today one in three have osteo
porosis that interferes with the qual
ity of life. Jumping rope jars the
bones and stimulates and strenghens
bones. You never get too old to build
bone mass.
Low intakes of calcium con
tribute to osteoporosis as does not
enough Vitamin D wliich is sun
shine. We all need 1200 mg calcium
a day. 8 oz. milk is 300 mg. That’s a
quart a day. There is no caldum in
meat unless you cat the bones. No
caldum in eggs unless you eat the
shell.

Feb. 22 and daily; through Saturday*
of each week, until March 13, from

waiting lists, the last week because
too many wait until the last minute
to decide.
More than 2,000 people is normal
attendance and the theatre only seats
170 so it is imperative to make early
reservations.
The Perry Players production of
