court competition
By CHARLOTTE PERKINS
times-iouhnai. staff .
Hearts and flowers decorated the dining room at
Summerhill (formerly New Perry Nursing Home) on
Feb. 12, as residents and staff got together for their big
Valentine’s Day celebration.
An annual event, the Valentine’s Day party includes
the naming of the Summerhill “King and Queen"
court. This honor, according to Activity Director Rita
Hudson, goes to to the winners of a competition for
“hugs ana signatures.”
The good-natured competition is designed to
encourage socializing, and results in not just one win
ner, but a number of winners.
This year’s Summerhill Valentine’s Court, named
to enthusiastic applause, included Hazel Watson,
Syrethia Jackson, Rosie Thompson, Hazel Housend,
Troy Toole, Derry Watson and B.W. Bozeman.
Runners up were Annie Scott, Rose Marie
Sullivan, Ozie Sherman, Emmage Lester, James
Anderson and Charles Thomas.
