Aqualove, Summer Hymns, Clemente
40 Watt Club
If you've ever wanted more than simply a visual or
aural experience at a live music show, gear your olfac
tory senses up for the next Aqualove gig at the 40
Watt as mastermind Tim Conley will once again present
his vision with a little smell behind it.
He is again preparing for his signature
"smellaround" show, where, according to Conley, the
audience will be subtly bombarded with scents that
match the “mood" of the music. And no smoking for
those black lung junkies out there.
Conley has just home recorded a new disc entitled
It's Mod (some of the live tracks recorded at the
Georgia Theatre) that he calls a "loungy, schmaltzy,
cheesy effort" in the vein of Bowie and Beck. "It's
campy and trashy, but it's also real earnest and inno
cent It's a little more cerebral... definitely a balancing
between light and dark moods."
Accompanying Conley this Friday will be Julia Schoenning and Elissa Hadley on backing
vocals; Neil Fountain (Megaphone Man) on bass; Seth Hendershot (Fuzzy Sprouts) on drums;
Andrew Reissiger (Dromedary) on guitar and possibly Andrej Kurti (Viktor and Andrej) playing
violin. "They'll be some electronic drums and computer sequencing going on, too," Conley adds.
Sound like a festival of sights... and let's not forget smells. Wonder what Conley thinks drunken
enthusiasm smells like?
