called [Revolution. Main vocalist Scott
Baston has retired from live perfor
mance due to a viral infection accel
erating the group's already established
evolution into electronica; he'll perform
at tonight's show, though, and this may
be his final performance in Athens
NELO (40 Watt) Nelo has that Dave
Matthews Band, '90s-|am-rock sound
(albeit with vocals leaning towards Ben
Harper), but the music is tight enough
and the songs exhibit enough orevity to
land them more in the breezy, melodic
pop-rock genre of Jack Johnson.

The Work has established itself as a
reliable post-Panic show in numerous
cities as they follow that band around
the Southeast Horn-driven and heavily
funky, the group serves up rubbery
jams and pays more than lip service
to the jazz influence on the jam scene

JON CLEARY (Classic Center
Theater) Making a name as a sideman
for Bonnie Raitt. Eric Clapton and Taj
Mahal, the British guitarist-turned-
pianist is now out on his own, sharing
his love for the New Orleans brand ot
blues-based soul His latest record.
Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster
Gentlemen (Basin Street) rides that
funky blue beat to the end of the line
