City Hip-Hop,’ hosts tonight s dance
party, mixing contemporary hip-hop
with older favorites and some unex
pected forays into other genres
DJ JOHNNY D (Loft) One of The
Loft Lounge's rotating crew of house
deejays. Johnny D— whom you may
recognize from Atlanta’s 95 5 The Beal
or South Carolina's Hot 981 FM—lays
down the new dance sounas, heavy on
the hip-hop every Friday night
DJ MARK BELL (8e’s) Starting at 11
p.m. every Friday and Saturday, local
deejay Mark Bell focuses on the dan
der sounds of 20 years ago
DJ TOMMY SALMON (Repent) Local
bassist Tommy Salmon (The High
Caliber, ex-Trinket) takes over the bar's
speakers as he selects the evening's
music Every Friday and Saturday
DJRX (Rumor) Local deejay Brian
Gonzalez, AKA DJRX, plays party
tracks, mainly current pop with old
school and country accents, many of
which are his own remixes
DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS (Georgia

Adam Saunders and Ben DuPriest join
forces with guitarist Colin Morehead
and bassist Matt Giordano to cre
ate what they call ‘joyous* pop rock
sounds, weaving a lot of classic '50s
and '60s tendencies into more muscu
lar rock Tonight the Pendletons cel
ebrate the release of their debut album
Oh Me', a disc featuring 12 catchy,
energetic tunes.

Cross Towns Track) Starting at 6:30
p.m. Friday night and going all night
long until sunup on Saturday, this
event is one of the big annual cancer-
research fundraisers. From speakers
to skits to drag shows to comedy, the
event also incorporates a lot of local
music—bands like Zac Taylor & the
Drugs Beyond Tomorrow Nelo
