New Harmonies Exhibit Celebrates
American Music
American music tells
the stories of people who
came together, some by
choice, others by force, to
form a diverse nation bound
by a common idea: freedom.
Whether sacred or secular,
their songs weave tales of
awe and wonder at the wide
open spaces around them; of
thankfulness for God’s boun
ty; of mourning for home
lands they may never see
again; of the sheer joy of life,
and scores of other emotions.
The ribbon cutting cere
mony is on July 21 at 10am,
followed by a performance
with the McIntosh County
Shouters at 11am at the
Trailhead Center, First Street,
Darien. This all day event
will include performances by
other local singers and musi
cians who sing or play roots
music. More details to fol
low.
From July 21 - Sept. 1,
Darien in McIntosh County,
Georgia, will host “New
Harmonies: Celebrating
American Roots Music.”
This traveling exhibition,
sponsored by the
