Stand Down
For Homelessness
The twelfth annual Veterans Stand Down for
Homelessness Resource and Job Fair will be held Septem
ber 15 and 16 at the Savannah Civic Center from 8 a.m.
until 2 p.m. Participants will be offered a hot meal, haircuts,
showers and will have opportunities for a variety of health
screenings. Representatives from more than 40 Social Ser
vice agencies will be available to provide information and
outreach on a variety of services including housing options,
job resources, resume writing tips, substance abuse treat
ment, income tax assistance, and accesses to Social Securi
ty and Veteran’s Administration services

Massie Maritime Gallery
Please join us for the dedication of the Massie
Maritime Gallery, which is devoted to Savannah’s maritime
heritage! This event will be held at Massie Heritage Center,
207 E. Gordon Street, on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 6pm.

First Friday for Folk Music
The next scheduled FIRST FRIDAY for Folk Mu
sic will be held at Stewart Hall, First Presbyterian Church
520 Washington Avenue, Savannah GA on the 4th of Sep
tember 2015. Festivities start at 7.30pm and run till about
10:00 pm. It is a smoke free, alcohol free and family friend
ly evening of music in a coffee house setting, regularly at
tended by an appreciative audience of folk music enthusi
asts from the greater Savannah and surrounding area. There
is a suggested minimum donation of S 5/- to help support
the event and other SFMS activities.

“Stop the Violence”
With the recent rise in violence in the city of
Savannah and a surge in blatant shootings and unsolved
murders, it is time to come together. We are asking for all
Pastors, Ministers of the Gospel, organization Presidents,
Neighborhood Association Presidents, families of victims,
and you to come out to a Mass Rally to “Stop the Violence”
at Holy Spirit Lutheren Church, 37th and Reynolds Street,
Friday, August 21, 2015 at 6 pm.
The mission of this rally is to initiate a collabora
tive citizens effort to stop the violence.
Ministers In Action is sponsoring this Rally.
Please bring a candle in honor of a love one of
friend that lost their life to senseless murders.

Neighborhood Establishes
Monthly Meetings
Althea Maynard, the president of the Cann/Jackson Park
Neighbor Association, announces that the Association has
established that its monthly meetings will take place the
first Thursday of each month at 6PM, meaning that the next
meeting will take place Thursday, September 3.
