On Saturday November
19, 2016, the Hungry Club
Forum of Savannah, Inc.
(HCFS) will use its monthly
Signature Roundtable and
Open Forum entitled, How
to Build Your Company/
Organizations LOCAL Dig
ital Footprint!, to delve into
how social impact can grow
sales, memberships and par
ticipation in your organiza
tion. Have you ever heard
the term doing good while
doing well? There is a grow
ing chorus of Small Busi
ness experts who believe
that social media and social
responsibility work mag
nificently to build the reach
and influence of businesses
and other organizations in
reaching out and establish
ing their brands.
We can look around our
own community and see
where businesses, church
es, educational institutions
and socio-economic orga
nizations have increasingly
turned to social media to
engage in dialogue gener
ation and marketing to get
their message out and estab
lish connections with their
customers, constituents and
prospects.
Author, speaker
and Small Business coach
Melinda Emerson is one of
the leaders of the national
pack when it comes to ad
vocating the development of
social digital imprints that
empower businesses and or
ganizations to do good while
doing well. The HCFS facil
itator for the November 19th
forum will be Gwendolyn
Glover Starks, a local advo
cate and consultant who has
done considerable research
on how local organizations
may begin to investigate
prospects.
Some of the topics to be
covered are: Why your or
ganization needs a presence
on the Internet? How do you
get the word out about your
company or organization?
How accurate is the gener
al information about your
company/organization out
there? Can your organiza
tion be found using a cell
phone? What are customers,
suppliers and others in your
field saying about you? Is
your website optimized so
Gwendolyn Glover
Starks
that its contents can be easi
ly indexed by search engines
like Google, Yahoo, Yelp
and others?
Attendees at the HCFS are
invited to bring any and all
related questions.
Glover-Starks holds a
Masters Degree in Urban
Studies from Savannah
State University. She has
worked with various com
munity-based organizations
to help make Savannah a
more equitable place to
live. She has worked with
the Safety Net Program of
the Coastal Health District/
Chatham County Health De
partment and served as an
adjunct professor with the
University of Phoenix.
In 2009, Glover
chaired the HCFS Covenant
VI Committee: Claiming
Our Democracy in its Study
of Tavis Smiley’s Covenant
with Black America. She
has volunteered with various
organizations, including the

helps a community to re
main healthy and strong.
