Brother Herbert
“Herb” Baker, Jr. is a na
tive of Savannah, GA. He
is a graduate of Allred Ely
Beach High School. After
receiving several academic
scholarships, Herb went on
to attend Shaw Universi
ty located in Raleigh, NC.
There he earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Biology
Education with a minor in
Mathematics and Business.
From there Herb went on
to pursue a career in busi
ness sales and currently, he
proudly serves as the Sales
Manager for Broughton
Pharmaceuticals, a National
Pharmaceutical Distributor,
where he has held that posi
tion since 2011.
In his free time,
Baker dedicates his efforts
to fostering collaborations
within the community. His
service has steered him to
lead a number of volunteer
initiatives within the com-

Announces Light the Way
Donation Drive
Donations benefit Domestic Violence
Victims in GA &SC
WJCL ABC 22 is proud to
announce a new holiday
tradition - “Light the Way:
Donations for the Children
& Adult Victims of Domes
tic Violence”. The station is
partnering in this effort with
Tanger Outlets in Hilton
Head & Savannah as well
as the Tiffani Taylor Gallery
and the Thibault Gallery.
The partners are hoping to
gather items for those peo
ple being served by Citizens
Opposed to Domestic Abuse
(CODA) in Beaufort, SC
and Safe Shelter in Savan
nah, GA.
The “Light the Way” cam
paign kicks off Thursday
December 1 st at the lighting
of the holiday tree at Tan
ger 2 in Hilton Head and
will run through Monday,
December 12th. WJCL will
broadcast the lighting of the
tree at Tanger live during its
7:00 pm newscast on De
cember 1st. WJCL will also
solicit donations in all of its
newscasts during the drive.

hope people will remember
those families who are at
Safe Shelter & CODA, and
help them in their time of
need,” said WJCL President
& General Manager Tim
Morrissey. “We are honored
to be joined in the ‘Light the
Way’ project by Tanger Out
lets, Tiffani Taylor and all of
our partners.”
Donations can be made at
the Shopper Services offices
at participating Tanger Out
lets. Those making dona
tions at Tanger will receive
a tree coupon book for the
Outlets. Similarly, dona
tions can be dropped off at
the Tiffani Taylor Gallery at
11 Whitaker Street in down
town Savannah as well as
the Thibault Gallery at 815
Bay Street in Beaufort.
Both of the galleries are also
offering further support for
the drive in the form of or
naments and wish lists. For

other ways to donate to the
shelters and lists of the do

Broughton Street, from 5:30
to 7:30 p.m. on December 8.
Proceeds will benefit HSF’s
Davenport House Museum.
At 6 p.m., author

a short presentation on the
history of Savannah’s fa
mous squares and be avail

Boys And Girls Club Receives Grant

Boys & Girls Club has re
ceived a $10,000 grant from
the Comcast Foundation to
help expand the My.Future
technology initiative. The
hands-on technology train
ing is designed to equip
Club kids with the skills
needed to compete in a 21 st
century environment.
The grant will pro
vide Club staff with addi
tional training and funding
to purchase state-of-the-art
equipment including tablets,
digital cameras, music stu
dio tools and video-editing
technology needed to imple
ment the My.Future curricu
lum.
My.Future is a
technology initiative that
enables members to select
from more than 40 activi
ties to help them understand
how to safely engage online,
and identify and develop
digital interests - from In
ternet basics for beginners,
to robotics, game design and
online journalism for ad
vancers users.
