Ring In 2019 With “Up The Cup” Countdown
On River Street
The Emerald Empire Band
Raise a glass with
us and celebrate the New
Year in true Savannah style
at the Savannah Water-
front Association’s “Up the
Cup” countdown sponsored
by Wet Willie’s. The New
Year’s Eve celebration takes
place Monday, December
31st beginning at 2PM on
historic River Street.
Live bands and
DJs will rock Rousakis
Plaza with a fantastic light
show while we countdown
the final hours of 2018.
G 100’s Mia Mance and
Stacy Scott from Hot 98.3
& Rewind 107.9 will be on
hand to lead us into the New
Year in style as the 6-foot
“to-go” cup rises on River
Street. Squash kicks-off the
live music on the Rousakis
Stage at 3:30PM Monday
afternoon. Great music con
tinues with The Emerald
Empire Band at 8:00PM. DJ
Gabe will also be spinning
tunes throughout the day
and evening.
“It’s going to be a
lot of fun. We’ve got great
bands performing and orga
nized com hole and beer-
pong tournaments with cash
prizes. Up the Cup is our
fun way of toasting the New
Year. New York may have a
crystal ball, and Atlanta has
a big peach, but only in Sa
vannah can you get a drink
in a roadie cup and enjoy
a beautiful evening on the
waterfront,” says Victoria
Smith, Executive Director
for the Savannah Waterfront
Association. “It is also a
privilege to be helping our
community partner, the Alz
heimer’s Association, raise
awareness for such a worthy
cause,” continued Smith.
The New Year’s Eve “Up
the Cup” countdown clock
will be displayed at 8:00
pm until it hits the midnight
hour, followed by cham
pagne toast. This year’s
spectacular firework display
is proudly sponsored by Hy
att Regency Savannah, Mar
riott Savannah Riverfront,
The Alida Hotel, The Westin
Savannah Harbor, Home-
wood Suites and Savannah
Riverboat Cruises. The New
Year’s Eve “Up the Cup”
Countdown Celebration
is hosted by the Savannah
Waterfront Association
and proudly sponsored by
Wet Willie’s. For a detailed

About “Crossing Hozons”
In the spring of
1819, the Steamship Savan
nah began a historic voyage
which would usher in a new
era of oceanic travel. By way
of the first trans-Atlantic
voyage via steamship, Sa
vannah spanned the horizon
between the age of sail and
that of steam. In recognition
of the 200th anniversary of
this historic event. Ships of
the Sea Maritime Museum
is pleased to offer the works
of internationally acclaimed
artist Cynthia Knott whose
exhibit “Crossing Horizons”
examines the existential es
sence of horizons crossed
and the profound vastness
of those yet traversed. De
scribed as an “alchemist”
whose paintings “border on
the symphonic,” Knott is
a two-time recipient of the
prestigious Pollack-Krasner
Foundation Grant, whose
work has appeared in over
70 national and international
exhibits, with recognition in
publications such as Archi
tectural Digest, The New
York Times, The New York
