WINDER POLICE
Pitbull puppy attacked by neighbors dogs
On Sept. 11, two Winder
Police officers responded to a
Scrooch Court, Winder, resi
dence after they received a
call from a man who said his
pit bull was severely attacked
by his neighbor’s two pitbulls
while he was away from the
residence for about 45 min
utes.
According to an incident
report, the man said he came
home to find his Eastbrook
Drive neighbor’s two brin-
dle pitbulls running off of
his property after they had
attacked his 8-month-old
black pitbull while it was
chained up outside. His puppy
had visible large open wounds
all over its body, was still
breathing, but was in shock,
police reported.
The man said he pulled his
still chained dog out of the
water right before he called
911. Police took pictures of
the dogs’ injuries and sum
moned emergency control
to contact Barrow County
Animal Control. Animal con
trol advised it was en route to
the address and would take
about one hour.
The dog’s owner then told
police that his neighbor gave
him an 3-month old female
pitbull earlier that day to
replace a different dog that
his dogs had killed on the
man’s property earlier in the
month.
Police met with the man’s
neighbors, who confirmed
they were the owners of the
two brindled pits accused of
attacking the puppy. They
said they knew their dogs had
been in a fight with another
dog.
While taking pictures of
the scene, officer’s found
one of the dog’s collars was
unlocked and attacked to a
lead on the ground. The own
ers said the other dog stays
inside the house with her 3
month old puppies.
They also said they suspect
a neighbor boy of letting the
dogs run lose while they are
away. This has not been the
first time the dogs have been
let loose.
Animal control arrived and
picked up the injured dog and
brought it to the Eastbrook
Drive address. The attack
dogs were taken into custody.
One, in particular, reportedly
had cuts all over his face.
Nothing else was reported.
In other recent incidents.
Winder Police reported the
following:
•pointing a gun or aiming
a pistol at another. A Windsor
Drive man said a suspect
pointed a black, wooded han
dled .38 caliber revolver at
him as he stood in the front
yard of a North Williamson
Street residence address. The
suspect told police the quarrel
was over money for a job that
he should have completed.
After checking the suspect for
weapons, police only found a
pocket knife. The suspect said
that he did not have a gun and
was only trying to finish his
work at the house. The hom
eowner told police she did not
see any gun.
•wanted person located at
the Hall County Detention
Center. Kristine Lei Tran,
25, of 5131 Wage Green St.,
Acworth, was wanted on a
probation warrant from the
City of Winder. She was
picked up and taken to the
Barrow County jail.
•no license or insurance at
North Broad and Stephens
streets. The driver of a red
Dodge truck was pulling a
trailer northbound with very
dim lights. As a patrol officer
passed the vehicle, he noticed
it had no taillights or brake
lights. The officer turned
around and got behind the
vehicle and performed a traf
fic stop. The vehicle came to a
stop in front of the post office
at Stephens Street. The driver
said his lights failed him on
his way home and he had to
hardwire the battery to get any
headlights, but he couldn’t
do anything about the other
lights. The man said he was
heading home to Jefferson.
When the officer ran the tag,
it returned with expired regis
tration, plates not assigned to
vehicle and unknown insur
ance status. The man said the
last insurance he had on the
vehicle was provided by a
former company, but he was
no longer employed with that
company. The man said he
had not retained insurance on
the vehicle since that date. He
was cited for driving with no
insurance and his vehicle was
towed.
