Museum of Aviation honors
heroes through cinema
By BRIAN SHREVE
HDJ Intern
The Museum of Aviation
is celebrating American
Independence and military
heroes with a month-long
festival of patriotic films,
which began July 4 with
“God Is My Co-Pilot.”
The films, shown in the
Eagle Building Vistascope
Theater, will play each
day at 1 p.m., and each
is scheduled to run a full
week.
All are free to the pub
lic.
Bob Dubiel, Museum
of Aviation vice president
of communications, said
this is the second year
the museum has held the
event, and he hopes atten
dance to the films will
increase.
“We’re trying to get the
word out because these are
interesting films,” he said.
“And people can come and
sit in the air-condition
ing and enjoy a movie for
free.”
Not surprisingly, the
festival kicked-off last
Tuesday with a showing
of “God Is My Co-Pilot,”
the story of aviator and
local hero, Gen. Robert
Lee Scott, Jr. Scott, a
World War II fighter pilot
and best-selling author, was
a strong supporter of the
museum until his death in
February.
“We wanted to pay tribute
to Scott,” said Dubiel. “If
you’re thinking about patri
otism, he epitomizes that,
and we miss him.”
“God Is My Co-Pilot” ran
last week.
The series continues this
week with “Memphis Belle,”
the story of the crew of the

before he was taken down
by police.”
“He’s an interesting char
acter,” Stokes said. “He
admitted to it.”
Stokes said “we haven’t
found the money yet, but
recovered his clothes and
shoes (worn during the rob
bery caught on videotape).
He changed clothes inside
the residence.”

Warner Robins Police are
looking for two men who

for money Wednesday after
noon. Just before 3 p.m.
on Thursday, officers with
the Warner Robins Police
Department responded to
a location on Loudon Hill

armed robbery.
The victim, Lan Le, a
53-years-old Vietnamese
woman, was babysitting
her 7-month-old niece and
