LITHONIA (AP) - A man
shot and killed his common
law wife in front of their
daughters and then shot
himself, police said.
Marsay Holman, 35, and
Carolyn Johnson, 34, both of
Lithonia, had been fighting
Sunday when Johnson left
with their three daughters,
aged 6, 14 and 16, DeKalb
County police said.
Holman jumped into her
sport utility vehicle as it was
leaving, according to police.
Holman shot Johnson and
told their daughters to get
out of the vehicle.
It appears that Holman
then shot himself, police
spokesman Herschel
Grangent said.

In final debate
ATLANTA (AP) - The
Democratic race for governor
surged into the homestretch
on Sunday as Secretary of
State Cathy Cox and Lt. Gov.
Mark Taylor took their part
ing shots in the final debate
of the campaign.
The pair hit largely famil
iar themes.
Taylor said that Cox’s
shifting positions on issues
like gay marriage show she
lacks the credibility needed
for the state’s top spot.
Cox questioned Taylor’s
ethics, saying he has used
his powerful position in
state government to benefit
members of his family and
wealthy campaign contribu
tors.
Cox and Taylor are battling
for their party’s nomination
to challenge Republican Gov.
Sonny Perdue in November.
