‘A Night of Swing at
the Canteen’ coming
In honor of the Armed Forces,
the Houston Arts Alliance will pres
ent: “Georgia Big Band Music and
Dancing - “A Night of Swing at
the Canteen” at the Museum of
Aviation Century of Flight Building
on Saturday, from 7 p.m. to 10
p.m.
Prizes will be given for the best
decorated table and best costume,
from WWII to the Korean War.
A table for eight costs $160; and
the cost for single seat at a table is
S2O. There are special discounts
for military personnel (active duty).
Guests may bring their own food
and drink - picnic style or gourmet
style. Tables must be reserved.

Warner Robins Police are looking for
four suspects in a Saturday afternoon
armed robbery on Porkie Drive.
At 4:20 p.m., officers of the Warner
Robins Police Department were dis
patched to 105 Porkie Drive in refer
ence to a stabbing.

HCBOE switching to new digital phone system

The Houston County Board of
Education announced it has begun the
process of switching its current tele
phone network to a Voice over Internet
Protocol telecommunication system.
The new system will be implemented
beginning at the central office as of

Upon arrival, the victim, Augustin
Lopez reportedly told police he was
standing alongside Porkie Drive when
four black males approached him and
one of the men grabbed him by the
neck, threw him to the ground, and
began to strike him about his head.

Comprehensive Planning
Committee will host two
open houses in September.
Officials encourage resi
dents and business repre-'
sentatives from Houston
County, Centerville,
Perry and Warner Robins
to attend.
At each open house,
there will be maps and
displays depicting the
proposed future land use
development and poli
cies for these communi
ties. Representatives
from Houston County,
Centerville, Perry and
Warner Robins will be
situated at their commu
nity’s display to answer
questions. There will also
be an opportunity to pick
up and/or drop off com
ment cards.
The open houses will
be held on Sept. 21 in
the Jury Assembly Room

Police, Wal-mart
team up to hold
community event

The Warner Robins
Police Department, in
conjunction with the Wal
mart on Booth Rd. in
Warner Robins will host a
community event for the
citizens of Warner Robins
and Houston County
Sept. 16.
The police depart
ment will have several
venues set up from 10
a.m. until 2 p.m. The
first will be VIN etching
and will be manned by
members of the Criminal
Investigation Division.
VIN etching is a chemi
cal process in which the
Vehicle Identification
Number is etched into
the car’s windows mak
ing it a less likely target
for theft.
The Traffic Division will
be conducting child safety
seat checks. According to
a release from the WRPD,
almost 80 percent of child
car seats are installed
incorrectly. The officers
will check the child’s car
seat installation and then
explain to parent’s or oth
ers how to install them
