car crash caused by a fleeing
gunman, according to police.
Police arrested one gunman
and are still searching for
the others.
Investigators are still
trying to determine their
motives, but do not think
the shootings are related.
“We have nothing to
indicate they are connect
ed,” Savannah-Chatham
Metropolitan Police spokes
man Sgt. Mike Wilson said.
However, detectives do
believe the first three inci
dents involved individu
als who knew each other,
said Major James Barnwell,
commander of the Criminal
Investigations Division.
“They weren’t just out
here targeting innocent citi
zens,” he said. “They have
no respect for property and
no value for life. And we
at SCMPD are not going to
tolerate having our innocent
citizens accosted and caught
in the crossfire of people tak
ing their frustrations out on
each other with violence.”
