A group of Houston County
parents of exceptional stu
dents met to form a child aid
organization.
The aim of the group was
to establish training facilities
for exceptional students.
The group formed a com

Perry, local groups receive honor

The City of Perry, with
its partners the Uptown
Perry Partnership, Inc.
and the Perry Rotary
Club, were recently hon
ored with the 2006 Georgia
Planning Association’s
award for Outstanding
Plan Implementation for a
Small Jurisdiction for the
Big Indian Creek Waterway
Project.
This award, according to a
release, “honors small juris
dictions able to implement
a plan that is innovative,
transferable, contributes to
a community’s quality of life
and comprehensive in its
vision and objectives.”
The Big Indian Creek
Waterway Project compris
es approximately 55 acres
obtained through donation,
partnership or purchase.
Of the $171,034 spent for

the planning, acquisition,
design and construction of
the project.

the Association, highlighted
these points at the GPA’s
annual conference Oct. 13.
