The truck, very similar to
the ones used by a local land
scape company, will be in use
by a state probation work
detail dedicated to keeping
Houston Lake Road and
Russell Parkway clean. The
truck has five Stihl weed
eaters, three SCAG walk
behind zero turn mowers (at
$4,000 each), a Stihl blower,
exterior fuel tanks on the
truck for the equipment as

Kersey graduates from basic military training

Airman Ist Class Jordan R.
Kersey has graduated from
basic military training at
Lackland Air Force Base,
San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of
training, Kersey studied the
Air Force mission, organiza
tion, and military customs
well as rakes, shovels, bags
and such.
Both the city and county
approved an intergovern
mental agreement to pay for
the truck, equipment and
the salary of a guard for a
prison work detail for main
tenance of Houston Lake
Road and Russell Parkway
rights of way.
The detail will work 10
hours a day, four days a week
Monday through Thursday,
weather and holidays per
mitting. It is one of seven
from the McEver Probation

Houston County a priority,”
said McEver Superintendent
Belinda Davis.
“It’s very important that
the detainees establish a
work ethic.”
She said the work crews
are made up of Level 1
detainees, those that require
minimal supervision.
The cost of the salary
of the corrections officer
assigned to detainee work is
$31,250.

Community College of the
Air Force. He is the son of
Robby and Ladonna Kersey
of Marshallville Road, Perry.
Kersey is a 2005 graduate

One of the guest speakers
was Maj. Gen Loren Reno.
Reno is the vice director,
Defense Logistics Agency,
Fort Belvoir, Va. The gen
eral’s agency is not only
responsible for Air Force
logistic matters but for the
Army, Navy and Marines as
well. This worldwide mis
sion is performed by approx
imately 21,000 civilians and
military personnel.

the Perry Ministerial
Association, will be held
at the courthouse square,
and will be followed by the
lighting of the 900 block

“This is my first time at
this symposium, but I can
already see the importance
of this kind of environment.
The ability to talk with
industry leaders, exchange
guidelines and develop
environmental information,
is a plus for all companies
represented here.” Minter
went on to say his company
was particularly interested
in the sustainment efforts
at a time. A live nativ

performance and refresh
ments are planned at Perry
United Methodist Church.
On Dec. 8 at 8 p.m., the
Perry Players will pres
ent Dickens’ “A Christmas
Carol.”
On Dec. 9, historic trol
ley rides will start at 2 p.m.
and 3 p.m., and there will be
a matinee of “A Christmas
Carol.” Downtown restau
rants will have pre-theatre
