Although Warner Robins
didn’t push across any
touchdowns in the second
12 minutes of the game, the
Demons did come away with
two more Clark field goals
that gave the Demons a 23-0
lead at the half.
Meanwhile, the Demon
defense put the kibosh on
any Tigers scoring opportu
nities.
Mundy’s Mill finished the
second half with 44 yards
of total offense, 16 on the
ground.
“We stopped them from
running better than 1
thought we would,” Way
said. “We started playing as
many kids as we could in the
second half.”

defense’s stranglehold on
the Mundy’s Mill offense.
Mundy’s Mill took the
kickoff at its 22 and used
more than half the quar
ter to drive to the Warner
Robins 4-vard line. The
Tigers lost two yards on
first and goal from the 4
and three incomplete passes
later, the Demons were first
and 10 on their 6.
Warner Robins used five
minutes of the remaining
5:44 to drive to Mundy’s
Mill’s 4 before settling for
Clark’s final boot of the
game, a 22-yard field goal
that put Warner Robins up
26-0 going into the final
quarter.
Each team tallied two
touchdowns apiece in the
fourth quarter. Warner
Robins struck first at the
seven minute mark.

on their own 42, the Demons
took advantage of 21- and
29-yard runs by Brandon
Jordan and Michael Hickey
before Jones popped over
from the Tigers’ 2.
The Tigers’ passing attack
got on track in the fourth
quarter, as Mundy’s Mill
quarterback Miguel Starkes
hit Quintory Braswell for a
f 15-yard touchdown. Anthony
Sallis ran in the two-point
conversion and the Tigers
trailed 33-8.
Warner Robins’ kicker/
returner responded by tak
ing the subsequent kick off
75 yards for the Demons
final score, but Starkes com
pleted four consecutive pass
es, the last a 24-yard toss to
the right back corner of the
end zone that wide receiver
Donte McConico out leaped
the defender to get. The two
point conversion failed and
the final score was 40-14.

It’s not unusual for a high
school coach to not have any
seniors. But to have neither
a senior nor a junior?
“I’ve never had a var

men and sophomores,” said
Euhanks. who has several
years as a coach. “In look

we ever were, but we’re also
shorter than we ever were.
My tallest player is 5-7, and
she comes off the bench.
We’re going to play against
some girls over 6 feet.
“We’re really guard domi
nant. We’ll play with four
guards a lot of times. My
inside player would be a
guard on anybody else’s
team.”
Eubanks lost both guards
and post players from his
senior class of 2006. He will

with sophomore Mason
Moreland.
Eubanks said her main
duties in the past have
been to play defense and
get assists, hut that is likely
to change this year.
Sophomore Hanna Jones
also played on varsity the
last two years as a reserve,
and Eubanks expects her to
take on a stronger scoring
role this year.
“We have limited experi
ence with Caroline Pfhol
as an inside player,” said
Eubanks. “Daryl Ann
Thompson played a few
minutes towards the end of
last season coming off the
bench. And that’s it. The
rest of them are inexperi
enced, but I wouldn’t count
them out.
“With our size, we have
to make sure we play the

you up when you take the
ball out of bounds, hope
fully force some turnovers
or aggravate you a lot, and
we have to shoot well.

us and get the rebound.
That’s going to be a con

That concern, of course,
carries over to the offensive
end, where Eubanks said
Westfield is most likely to
only get one shot at a time.
So he is hoping through
turnovers to get the easiest
shot of all in basketball, the
open lay-up.
Since there will be a big
need to play end to end
basketball, Eubanks is like
ly to go five deep off the
bench where others may
only play seven total in a
game. He doesn’t want the
Lady Hornets to get caught
in too many half-court con
tests, especially in Region
3-AAA.
“I think we have one of
the toughest girls regions
there is,” said Eubanks.

summer, the Macon schools
are strong. It’s going to be
tough, but I’m looking for
ward to it.”
