With junior point guard
Casey Hayward lead
ing a dominant effort in
overtime (Warner Robins
had two of its six play
ers foul out in the extra
four minutes), the Perry
boys opened the 2006-
2007 with a 89-78 win. It
was also the first contest
for the Warner Robins
Demons and head coach
Chip Malone, who has the
remainder of his expected
varsity roster practicing
for state football playoff
action.
Four of the six Warner
Robins players are return
ing starters, however, and
three of them scored in
double figures Tuesday.
Pierre Miller, the point
guard, never took a break
and led all scorers with
31 points. Kenny Fluellen
had 19 points and Braxton
Duggar 16.
Perry coach Brett
Hardy, looking at several
new faces he hopes will
help keep Perry’s post
season streak alive, used
a mass substitution strat
egy every two minutes of
play. As a result, eight
players had eight or more
points with six reaching
double digits.
The leader by a hair
was Trey Smith and his
13 points. Senior Eric
Askew, the only returning
starter, joined Hayward
with 12 points each. Jared
Fluellen, Chris Willis and
Akeen Felder each scored
10 while Mike Walker and
Kameron Felder each had
eight.
The Panthers never
trailed in the contest.

- each going undefeated
on the night.
“It is great to get off to a
good start,” said Houston
County head coach Heath
Burch. “We had some
guys that did a great job
and some that struggled.
“I know we will improve,
however, as the year goes

Janay Wilson’s persever
ance has paid off well.
After having a huge chunk
of her junior basketball
season for Northside High
School taken away by a mul
titude of injuries, Wilson
still held the attention and
interest of Savannah College
of Art & Design coaches.
Wilson can now look forward
to not only playing college
basketball, but also attend a
school that specializes in her
kind of academic interest.
Wilson, now 100 percent
healthy and the current
Lady Eagle starting point
guard, signed her scholar

points.
Perry had seven points
from Ashley West and
six from Sheek Ragin. It
was the first game for
the Lady Panthers this
season under new head
coach Katherine Bradley.
One of Bradley’s pre
season predictions for her
new Perry basketball club
was that it would beat
teams down the floor. The
Lady Panthers did push
the ball on several occa
sions, but had its troubles
in finishing the drives.
Perry also lost junior
Ashley Roberts in the sec
ond half after she took a
shot to the face and didn’t
return to the game.
Wilkerson canned two 3-
pointers in the first quar
ter while White had one.
White also made a steal
and assist to Wilkerson,
and Maine, scoring on an
offensive rebound, put
the Demonettes up 16-6
after one quarter of play.
Maine would get two
quick fouls in the second
quarter. Wilkerson made
up for Maine’s absence
by causing problems in
Warner Robins’ pressing
defense. She turned two
steals into baskets (24-9).
West had three of steals
of her own in the sec
ond quarter, scoring
on two and making an
assist to Roberts. The
Lady Panthers got as
close as 11, 24-13, before
