council election
Lake Joy Elementary School,
according to a release, will hold a
School Council election Aug. 30 at
6 p.m. in the cafeteria. According to
the release, four parent or guardian
members will be elected.

Hanna among Perdue
appointments
Gov. Sonny Perdue announced
some executive appointments this
week. One of those was for the State
Children’s Trust Fund Commission
and included Carolyn “Carol” B.
Hanna of Warner Robins, At Large
Representative.
Hanna, according to a release,
is an independent contractor of the
National Children’s Alliance. She
is the former executive director at
Rainbow House Children's Resource
Center. She is a member of the
Houston County Exchange Club and
a supporting member of the National
Children’s Alliance.

of Elections will meet 5:30 p.m.

Vaccine limited
BOE says it
will allow
extra time

Children new to Georgia
schools and students enter
ing Kindergarten or sixth
grade, according to a board
of education release, are
required to receive two doses
of the Varicella (chickenpox)
vaccine. The shot require
ments were approved by
the Georgia Department of
Human Resources and affect
children attending school for
the first time or those enter
ing Kindergarten or sixth
grade July 1 or later.
However, according to the
release, because some health
providers are short on the
vaccine, schools are allowing
parents with the required
Certificate of Immunization
- Georgia Form 3231 - extra
days to obtain'the required
shots.
Schools, the release reads,
will honor a valid Form 3231
indicating that the student
was unable to receive the
second dose of Varicella
