SEARCHERS FIND BODY OF !
'REIDSVILLE, Ga., June 7-—(P)—
The kody of Joshua Lyon 82, Con--
federate veteran, missing from here
since last Saturday night, was found
about one half mile from the home
of Mrs. C. B. Collins. It had been
thought that foul play was responsi
ble for his disappearance but the
coroner’s jury returned a verdict te
the effect that “Joshua Lyons came
to his death from natural causes.”
The appearance of the body indicated
death had occurred within the last 24
hours.
i On last Saturday night a colored
man was hired by Mell Jarnagan to
take “Uncle Josh” as he was fa
miliarly known to the home of Mrs.
Collins. This he did according to his
statement, and left Mr. Lyons on the
front steps. Mrs. Collins states that
she was not aroused and was not
aware of his arrival.
When it was learned that Lyons¢
was missing search was begun by of
ficers and citizens of the community
but without avail until today.
It is believed here that the old man
strayed away from the house in the
darkness after is arrival last Satufl
day night and because of his feeble
condition was unable to return or
to give sufficient alarm to bring
searchers to him.

CLEVELAND, June 7—(/P)—At--
lee Pomerene, senator from Ohio
for 12 years previous to 1923, an
nounced his candidacy for the demo
cratic nomination for United States
‘ senator here tonight. In a state
- ment he declared he would make lit
tle, if any campaign in the primaries
his work as special counsel for the
federal government in the naval pe
troleum reserve cases coming first.
In announcing his candidacy, he
cleared up a somewhat chaotic con-|
dition in demoeratic politics, both in
this county and the state. The great
pressue to enter the race has been
‘ brought to bear on him for several
weeks,
‘ Simultaneously with the Pomerene
| announcement, Frank F. Gentsch,
i Cleveland attorney, who was plan--
' ning to run as a wet candidate.
- withdrew from the race after paying

Supreme Court Judge i"lorence k.
Allen, of Cleveland, another candi--
didate, tonight stated that she would
not withdraw, regardless of = who
might run. 0
* State Commerce Director Cyrus W.
Locher, of Cleveland, also a senator
ial candidate, declined to comment
on the Pomerenc statement. }
Pomerene’s candidacy will be filed
