Kansas— Letter from Gov. Geary.
The following letter from Gov. Geary was
received at the State Department in Washing.
,",1 u n the 22(1 ult. The Governor deserves
0 U of the country for the promptness with
which he has put things to rights in that dis
tracted territory:
Executive Department, }
Lecompton, K. TANARUS., Oct. 10, 18oli. J
Silt: Your letter of the 23d ultimo, inreply
to mine of the Oth, and your telegraphic des
patch of the 27th ult., in reply to my letter of
the Kith, were both received on the evening
of the Bth inst.
Despatches forwarded since the dates of
those acknowledged, have informed you that
peace and quiet have been restored in the
Territory. Not only have all large armed
bodies of men been dispersed, but the smaller
bands of marauders have been driven off. —
The roads are travelled with safety, and dwell
ings are secure from intrusion. For upwards
of two weeks no outrages have been authenti
cally reported. Many notorious and trouble
some agitator:;, claiming to belong to all par
ties, have left the Territory, and the beniti
cent influence of their absence is being alrea
dy very sensibly felt.
“The troops scut to the north have not yet
returned. It is my purpose to leave on the
northern frontier a considerable force for its
protection: and the remainder of the troops
will be employed to guard such other points
as may seem to require it. I shall short ly
proceed in person with a small body of men to
the southwestern portion of the Territory, in
pursuit of a gang of thieves who are said to
be pillaging that region.
Very respectfully, your obedient serv’t,
JOHN W. GEARY,
Gov. of Kansas.

PROFESSOR WOOD’S
HAIR RESTORATIVE.
WE CALL THE ATTENTION OF ALL, OLD AND
YOUNG, to the wonderful preparation, which
turns back to its original color gray hair—cover* the
head of the bald with u luxuriant growth—remove* the
daudruff, itching aud all cutaneous eruptions—causes a
continual Doer of the natural Uuids; and hence, it used
as a regular dressing for the hair, will preserve it*
color, and keep it from failing to extreme old age, in all
its natural beauty. We call, then, upon the bald, the
gray, or diseased; in ecalp, to ue It; and surely, the
young will not, as they value the flowing locks, or the
witching curls, over be without it. It* praise is upon
tho tongue of thousand*.
Waterford, Mass., July 25, 1856.
PROF. O. J. WOOD—With confidence, do 1 recom
mend your Hair Restorative, as being the most effica
cious arti.de 1 ever saw. 1 have used the Wulphenoaud
other preparation* of the day, all without effect. Since
using your Hair Restorative, my hair and whiskers,
which were almost white, have gradually grow n durk ;
and 1 now feel confident, tliut a few more applications
will restore them to their natural color. It also has re
lieved mo of all (laiuinih und unpleasant itching, so
ceiitim.n among persons who perspire freely.
J. U. KILBY.
Xorth Hast Ibniityfaunia, March I), 1856.
Slß—lu consequence of having hair, for seveial years
past, not only gray, but perfectly white, 1 have cut it
short, and worn caps to hide it from view; hut some
three mouths since, I was induced to .use your Hair Re
storative, and I must, iu justice say. that its effects were
almost miraculous; for it has changed it gradually to al
most its former sph ndur as to color, nd left it *0 soft
and glossy a- to he more beautiful I him it ever wus,
when under the uitlueiice of tine oil. 1 earnestly, there
fore, recommend it to every holy as decidedly the Iwst
preparation for toilet use, ol anything iu the world.
BETSY SMITH.
PROF. WOOD—Having experienced the magic effect
of your Hair Restorative, 1 drop you this upon the sub
ject. About two years ago, my hair commenced tailing
oil und turning gray ; i was last becoming bald. 1 met
it friend who had used your Restorative, aud spoke so
highly of its vutueN, 1 was induced to try it. although 1
had but little faith, us I had before tried o many other
medicines. I commenced using your Restorative in Jan
uary lust. A few applications fastened my hair firmly.
It begun to fill up. grow out, and turned back to its
foimer color, (bluck.j At thUtlnie.lt is fully restored
to iis original color, heulili and appearance, und 1 cheer

PROF. t). J. WOOD —Dear Sir—l take pleasure in
bearing voluntary testimony to the magic effects of
your wonderful Hair Restorative. As far back us 1836,
in v hair commenced falling oil, until the top of my scalp
became bald and as smooth as glass, and it lias continued
to fall for a great litany years, notwi'hstanding 1 have
used many celebrated preparations for its restoration.
Feeing your advertisement. 1 whs induced to give your
article atrial, and, to my utter astonishment, I tumid
alter u few applications. Unit I] c hair became firmly set,
and assumed it glossy and bean dill appearance; and by
the time 1 had usi and u quart : i.nh my hold head was
covered with a young und vigorous grow th cl’ Hair, which
is now from one to two inches in length, and growing
fust. Yours, truly, HEN BY GOODRICH.

PROF. 0. J. WOOD —Dear Sir—After reading the ud
vepti-entcnl in one of the New York Journals, of your
celebrated llair Restonaive, 1 procured a hull pint bot
tle. and was so much pleased with it. Hint 1 continued
its use for two months, and uni satisfied it is decidedly the
la-st preparation before the public. It nt once removed
all dundiull and unpleasant itching from the sculp, aud
hits restored my hair naturally, und, I havo no duubt,
permanently so.
You have permission to refer to me, all who enteriuin
any doubt of its performing all that Is claimed for it.
MIBB PEEKS, 2t:J<; Greenwich Avenue.
1 leave used Professor O. J. Wood's Hair Resturaiiae,
