Cotton Bales in Chancery.
IVe have heard of some curious adventures
with regal'd to bales and cargoes of cotton,
Lays the Liverpool Mail, but certainly never
until this week did we hear of the great staple
I ( ,f our port being an article in which the Court
[of Chancery had any dealings. It appears,
[ however, that some sixty years ago, when
■cotton was worth from some Is. to 2s. per
i pound, and 180 bales were imported into Liv
[,,, p#ool from America. The cotton, on being
I landed, was warehoused, but owing to some
| dispute between the importer and the ware-
I house owner —the sale of the cotton delayed
| for a long time —legal proceedings were taken
[which resulted in the cotton being “thrown
| into Chancery,” and there it has remained uu
| til a few days since, when it was sold by order
|of the court, realizing 4fd per lb. Had the
| cotton sold at the original price, and had the
[interest which has accrued during the sixty
j years been added to the charge, it must have
[ realized some 30s. per lb. —Charleston Courier.

PROFESSOR WOOD’S
HAIR RESTORATIVE.
\TTE CALL THE ATTENTION OF ALL, OLD AND
>V YOUNG, to tbe wonderful preparation, which
turns hack to its original color gray hair—covers the
bead of tbe bald with a luxuriant growth—removes tbe
dandruff, Itching aud all cutaneous eruptions—causes a
continual flow of the natural fluids; and hence, if used
as a regular dressing for the hair, will preservo Its
color, and keep It from falling to extreme old age, in all
its natural beauty. We call, then, upon the bald, the
gray, or diseased! in scalp, to use it; and surely, the
young will not, as they value the flowing locks, or the
witching curls, ever he without it. Its ptaise is upon
the tongue of thousands.
WuUrfmii, ileus., July 25, 1866.
PROF. O. J. WOOD—With confidence, do 1 recom
mend your Hair Restorative, as being the most effica
cious urti.-le 1 ever saw. 1 have used the Walpliene and
other preparations of the day, all without effect. Since
using your Hair Restorative, my hair and whiskers,
which were almost white, iiave gradually grow n dark ;
and 1 now feel confident, that a few more applications
will restore them to their natural color. It also bus re
lieved mo of all dnndi iit! and unpleasant itching, so
common among persons who perspire freely.
J. U. KILBY.
A'o rth Jiast Hwtsylvuiua, March 9, 1856.
81H—1n consequence of having hair, for several years
past, not only gray, but perfectly white, 1 have cut it
short, aud worn caps to hide it from view; but some
three months since. I wits induced to use your llair Re
storative, and 1 must, injustice say. that its effects were
almost miraculous; for it has changed it gi udually to al
most Its former splendor as to color, and left it so soft
aud glossy as to be more beautiful than It ever was,
when under the influence of line oil. I earnestly, there
fore, recommend it to every lull} as decidedly the best
preparation for toilet use, ot anything iu the world.
BETSY SMITH.
PROF’. WOOD—Having experienced the magic effect
of your Hair Restorative, 1 drop you this upon the sub
ject. About two years ago, my hair Commenced lulling
oli and turning gray ; 1 wits fust becoming bald. 1 met
a friend who had used your Restorative, and spoke so
highly of its virtues, 1 was induced to try it, although 1
hull hut little faith, its I had before tried so many other
medicines. 1 commenced using your Restorative m Jau
uai y last. A tew applications fastened my hair firmly.
It began to fill up, grow out, and turned hack to its
former color, (black.) A* this time, it is fully restored
to n original color, health and appearance, and l cliecr
tully recommend its use to all. J. D. HUES.

PROF’. O. J. WOOD—Dear Sir—l take pleasure In
hearing voluntary testimony to the magic effects of
.vour wonderful Hull- Restorative. As lai back as 1830,
uty hair commenced falling off, until the top of my sculp
beeuwe Laid and iisemootli as glass, and it lias continued
to fall for a gnat many yeurs. notwithstanding 1 have
used many celohnited preparations for its restoration.
Seeing your advertisement. 1 was induced to give your
article a trial, and, to my idler astonishment, 1 found
alter u lew applications, that ni.v hair became firmly set,
and assumed a glossy and hcai, .iu) appvurance; and by
the time 1 lmd used a quuri . itii, my bald head was
covered with a young and vigorous growth of hair, which
is now from one to two inches in length, amt growing
lust. Yours, truly, HENRY GOODRICH.
Acte York. Octuhcr 2, 1854.
PllOlf. O. J. WOOD—Dear sir—After reudiug the ad
vertisement in one of the New York journals, ol your
celebrated Hair Restorative, 1 procured a bull-pint bot
tle, ami wo* so much pleased with it, that 1 continued
its use for I wo mouths, and am satisfied it is decidedly the
best pl'cpuiulion before the public. It at once removed
all dandruff and unpleasant itching from the scalp, and
lias restored my hair naturally, ami, I have no doubt,
lie ini Hue in ly so.
You have per mission to refer to me, all who entertain
any doubt of its performing ail that is claimed lor It.
.'llßs ELEliti, liieeuwich Avenue.
X have used Professor 0. J. Wood’s Hair Kestoratlae,
and have admired its wonderful effects. It restored my
hair where it had fallen oil'; it cleans the head, and ren
ders the hair soft uml smooth—much more so thau oil.
