compound; containing no mineral poison or nau
aeous drug, as it is prepared aolely from Rooti,
Harks and Leave*, and lia been handed down,
from one generation to another, by the Cherokee
Indians. It is offered to the public on it* own in
trinsic merits. It performs its duty quickly and
thoroughly. The unfortunate of either sex will
be r< paid by using this Remedy, instead of placing
themselves at the mercy of some Quack or Pro
fessor Tills Remedy strikes at the very root of
the disease; its tendency is cot eimply to suspend
the poison, but to remove the cause on which it
depends. Full directions in pninphiet form ac
company each bottle. The speedy and permanent
reliet afforded by this Remedy, in all cases of
Gonorrhoea, GJcct, Gravel, Stricture,
Fluor A 3lhih (Whites in Females), and all dis

most scientific men of the age. This Remedy not
ouly eradicates all poison from the system, but
invigorates the molt delicate constitution.
It does not affect the breath or interfere with
any class of business, or require any deviation
from the usual diet.
It requires no assistance from other medicine.
And what enhances its valuo is the entire ab

Dec 20th, 1868. J
Gentlemen : Your note of tho 16th inst. has been
received, raying that you had htard that I had
boon beuefitted by the use of Wood's Hair Restora
tive, and requesting my certificate of the tact if I
had no objection to give it.
I award it to you cheerfully, because I think it
due. My ago is about 60 years; the color of my
hair auburn, and inclined to curl, gome five or
six years since it began to turn gray and tho scalp
o’u the crown of my head to lose its sensibility and
dandruff to form upon it. Each of these disagreea
bilities increased with time, and about four months
since u fourth was added to them, by hair falling
off the top of my head nud threatening to make
uie bald.
In this unpleasant predicament, 1 was induced
to try Wood’s Hair Restorative, mainly to arrest
the falling off of my hair, for 1 had really no ex
pectation that gray hair could ever be restored to
its original color, except from dyej. I was, how

To Prof. O. J. Wood—Dear Sir: Your “liair Re

than ever; at least this is my experience. Believe

W. E. Hagan, Troy, N. Y., — l)car Sir: Having
used your Hair Coloring or Restorative, and being
much pleased with it, I take pleasure in making
the following statement: From the effects of a
very severe tit of sickness, when about 18 years of
age, my hair commenced turning grey, and so
continued to grow until it became perfectly while,
being very harsh and coarse. Last suinmui 1 hud
reached iny fifty-third year, when I whs induced
by a friend to purchase two bottles of lleimstreet’a
Hair Restorative, prepared by you. I commenced
using it according to directions, and in a few days
was surprised to find that my hair from the roots
outward was turning back to its original color.
It so continued to grow until it was as truly
brown and glossy as it was in my youthful days,
and is now fully restored to its original color.

statement is true, this Hth day of February, 1858.
JOEL F. POTTER, Justice of the Peace.
PITTBFOIID, VT-, AllgUSt 1, 1867.
I hereby certify that my hair having become
quite grey, I used Ilelmstreot’a Hair Restorative
(prepared by W. E. Hagan, Troy, N. Y.,) for four
weeks, and my hair was in that time restored to
itH original color. I can fully re commend the ar
ticle to be all it claims.
WILLIAM KINGSLEY,
Pastor of the Baptist Church, Pittsford, Vt.
Mr. W. K. IIaoan: I have used Heimitreet’* Hair
Restorative for three years, aud find it to be a most
excellent article. It not only restored the color of
my hair, giving it new life aud strength, but it
cured myself and wifeof a most obstinate eruption
upoiffthe scalp, which nothing else seemed to benefit.
I fully believe it to bo tbe best article in use.
Yours, respectfully,
KNOWLTON HOWLAND.
The above are but a few of the many letters of
recommendation which have been tendered to the
proprietors of Hoimstreot’s Hair Coloring or Re
storative. It bus been used by thousands of peo
ple, and it never fails to restore the color and
growth of the hair. Thin singular effect is not
produced as when dyes are used ; for its acts upon
tbe natural secretions of coloring matter at the
roots, and thus effects the change. The color pro
duced is not a counterfeit, but the -natural shade of
youth. It does not color the skin.

Homicide lu Tallapoosa*
Tho Tallapoosa (Ala.) Times of tho 12th
inst. says a man named Patterson was
killed at Dufl'ey’s Court Ground, in that
county, on Saturday last, by another
named Powell. The facts, as the Times
learns them, are that Patterson and Pow
ell had had some difficulty during the
day, and just about dark Patterson went
up to Powell and acoosted him, express
ing friendship, when the la'ter stabbed
him in the abdomen, ripping him literally
open. Patterson was known to ho a
desperate man, having killed a man in
Tallapoosa county some ten years ago,
and it was doubtless his desperate char
acter that caused Powell to kill. Powell
made his escape.

An Armed Gang of Negroes at

The Paulding Clarion, of Wednesday
last, says : A gentleman came all the way
Augusta to this county a few days ago,
to procure track dogs for the purpose of
hunting a gang of outlaw nogroes, who
are infesting Perry county, Miss. Ac
cording to the account given by this gen
tleman, who is as respectable a young
man ns any in the county, the gang num
bers five or six, and are armed with guus
and weapons. Whito men arc suspected
of being in leaguo with them, und ono
man has been arrested and committed to
jail on suspicion. Our informant says
that an unprecedented excitement exists
in the community, surpassing anything
that was ever occasioned by the depreda

During Attempt to Escape at Sea.
Tho Charleston Courier of tho 10th
says as the ship Kutahdin, bound for
Liverpool, was being towed to sea on
Monday, by the steamer Aid, ono of the
seamen of the Katuhdin jumped over
board while the vessel was passing
through Beach Channel. A boat was
immediately lowered and manned by the
second rnato and threo of the hands, with
a view to rescue him. They had got but
a little distance from tho ship when a
wave struck tbeir small boat and capsized
it. Capt. Paine, of the Aid, noticing the
occurrence, let go to tbe Kntahdiu, and
went to the assistance of tbe men strug
gling in the wuter. lie succeeded in get
ting all tho men safely into the steamer,
without further damage than a pretty
thorough soaking. Tho seaman who had
attempted to runaway, gave as an excuse
that he had no outfit for the voyage. An
examination of his trunk confirmed tho
truth of his assertions, as it was found to
contain nothing but rags.

it appears that the total number of chil

was no less than fifty, and that of these,
all were restored to their families or rel

is mainly attributed to tbe efficiency of

Sore Tliroat Plague and Sore

causing tho expulsion of depraved humors, is pos
seaaod by no other niadiciuo than Biundkkth s
Pills. They operate only upou tho tissues in
volved in, that is affected by tho disease. In fact,
they seizo upon those humors, not so much from
preference as from natural affinity, because their
life is below those of the surrounding parts, and
which settling on tho tissues of tbe tbroat, that
is around the tbroat region, produces sore throat,
sore throat plague, and the severe headache aud
fever. Within an hour after four or six pills are
taken, there is felt a peculiar creeping in the part
affected, a sort of collecting up of the diseased
humors ready for expulsion, No hurt or weaken
ing effect can ever aviso from their uso, becauHo
they caunot act upon healthy parts. Taken early
they prevent all organic diseases. Oh how impor

guishes the disoasoand leaves no evil effect behind.
