COTTON MARKET.
Liverpool, February 4.
. Although the demand has been unusually lim
ited, there is not the slightest alteration to re
port in the prices of any description; the quan
tity on show throughout the week has not been
more than suficieUt for the wants of the buyers,
and on Friday there was evidently less disposi
tion on the part of the holders to meet the de
mand, without, however, producing any sensi
ble effect upon piices. About 1000 bales of
Ameiicau have been taken-on speculation this
week, and 2100 bales American and 300 bags
Brazils have been forwarded into the country,
unsold, in the course of the last month. The
sales amount to 11,830 bales, as follbws:—100
‘ Sea Island at 12d to 14£d; 10 stained, 7d; 5160
Bowed Georgia, 6}d to 8d; 1150 Mobile and
Alabama, 6f lo 7 3 8d; 2880 New Orleans, 6$
.to 9d; 610 Penarabuco and Cera 8 3-8d to 9£d;
350 Bahia and Macelo, 7$ to B£d; 100 Maran
hain, 8} to 9sd; 260 Egyptian, 8£ to 9£d; 680
Carthagena 6d to 6sd; 30 Smyrna, 7d; 370 Su
rat 4$ to 64d, and 60 Bengal at 6d per Id. The
imports are 18,404 bags.
Havre, Jan. 19.
. Our Cotton market continues very active
though still without improvement in prices. The
demand I expect will last for some time to come,
as the manufacturers are in full employ and ob
tain ready sale for their products; nevertheless,
if the supplies from your side should come in too
abundantly, our prices would, no doubt expert
ence a decline.
Cottons— There has been, during the last ten
days a good demand for this article, without any
changes in prices. The sales consist of 4846
bales, as followj: 2804 bales Louisiana at 89 to
115; 1320d0. Upland, Mobile and Alabama at
'B6 to 102; 10'do Sea Island at 270, 152 do. Per
na mo tco at 132; and 60 do. Maranhain at 112 j;
all these prices duly paid.
