LARGEST Cl TYM IRCILATION.
SATURDAY MORNING July 7, 18##
WHAT'S TRUMPS 1
There are to many oard« to play,
So many ways to choose,
In love and politics and war,
That forwarding our views,
IVith ladies fair and statesmen wise,
Or men of lesser bumps,
Bofore we had our strongest suits,
’lis well to know what’s trumps.
Once worshipping at beauty’s shrine,
I knelt in bondage sweet,
And breathed my vows with eagerness,
And offered at her feet,
My soul, well stored with Cupid’s wealth—
A lore cemented lump ;
A king of diamonds won the trick,
My heart was not a trump.
Baring to see my rival win
Upon a single rub,
As he bad played the dcuee with me,
Hollowed with a club ;
Two days within a station house,
Reflecting on my sin,
I found as others may have done,
Clubs very seldom win.
Grown wise by sad experience,
I ceased to deal with maids,
I shuffled youthful follies off
And turned up Jack of Spades.
And still I find, as dust is scarce,
And smaller grow the lumps,
That though the spade’s an honest card,
It is not always trumps.
But in the world of outside show,
Where Mammon rules the throng,
To ease the little joints of life,
And smoothly pass along ;
To fiud an antidote for care,
And stern misfortune’s bumps
One card is very sure to win—
Diamonds are always trumps.

RIGHT OF THE
PATENT MICA ROOFING,
Wo nre now’prepared to supply it in any
quantity, or to appiy it to Roofs.
The MICA ROOFING is adapted to build- ;
ings of every description, aud can be ap
plied to Steep or Flat Roofs, or over old
Shingle Roofs, without removing the shin
gles. Wc recommend its use on Factories,
Foundries, Store Houses, Cotton Sheds,
Railroad Depots and upon all buildings
where steam is used, and a Fire Proof re
quired.
fteS"* It costs about one-half the price of
Tin.
It is cheap, durable, and is easily and
quiekly applied. The upper surface of the
Rooting is protected from the action of the
weather, by its covering of Ground Mica,
which is pressed into the water proof com
position, making a hard surface of stone,
beautiful in appearance, and a sure protec
tion against fire.
We shall also keep constantly on hand a
supply of
INDIA-RUBBER ROOFING PAINT,
which is the best coating that can be used
for Tin Roofing. Leaky Tin Roofs can he
readily repaired, so as to last many years,
at a trifling cost, which would in many
cases save the expeuse of anew Roof.
