From Yucntam
News from Yucatan to March 15, has been
received at Havana. The affairs of the pen
insula have decidedly improved of late. The
war with the revolted Indians, which hud for
a time prostrated every branch of industry and
reduced the country to so deplorable a state, is
now almost ended. In the South tho savages
| H ,ve received a severe blow. In and after an
action, which took place recently, the whites
captured 888 families, among which were 182
men, 149 horses, 100 mules and a lurge quantity
of munitions of war.
Col, Molas writes that, in conformity with
his instructions, he had occupied Tikue, the
rancho of San Jose and Sisbechen, having had
various encounters with the rebels. Another
officer attacked Ilotebch, where the enemy was
fortified. The result was tho dispersion of
the Indians. The number of savages killed
in the skirmishes was 57.
The Yucatan papers are quite .confident that
the rebels cannot make much more resistance.
It is asserted that those who still hold out are
scattered in little bands, acting without concert,
and consequently ineffectively. Most of tho
Indians, it is said, are anxious to return to their
allegiance, but are prevented from doing so by
the throats of their chiefs. In spite of this
fuvorablo appearence of affairs, it appears that
on the 11th of March, between 2000 and 3000
rebels assembled in the neighborhood of Val
ladolid, A party of about 400 Goverment
troops had gone out to drive off tho intruders.
A nuiionul guard is to be established in the
peninsula.
Medical College of the State of South
Carolina.—Among tho graduates at the re
cent Commencement of the above institution,
we observe the names of the following gentle

Correspondence of the Morning News.
Havana, 6th April 1850.
Since our report of 31st March, business generally
was interrupted for more than a week by the holi
days, and has scarcely yet had time to resume its
usual course. Prices of Sugar are on the whole some
what easier, although Planters do not yet make auy
concessions of importance, as the suplies during the
post ten days were more restricted than usual at this
period, and there has not been a free accumulation
of stock. This was owing to very boisterous weath
er, accompanied by heavy rains, whereby the roads
iu the interior were much injured, the movements of
coasters impeded and grinding was interrupted. The
weather since yesterday is again stormy ; so much
so as to interfere with the loading of vessels in the
harbor. Our quotations are : —- Middling to fine
Whites,-!)} a 10 rials ; ordinary Whites, 81 a 8} rials ;
Yellows, 6a 7 rs.; Browns, 51 a 51 rials; Cucuruchos;
■IJ a 5 riuls.
iUuscavudos are at 5 a 51 rials for ordinary to mid
filing; 5J a 6 for good to prime.
MOLASSES may be obtained at 1J rials in the out-
ports.
COFFEE is very dull and prices nominal.
IMPORTS.—A cargo of Jerked Beef from New
Bracelonu was placed at 6} rials ; there are 4 cargoes
on hand. Fish has been in small supplies; 107 casks
Boston Cod realised 25 rials, and 200 drums Haddock,
from Guernsey, equal to that imported from the Brit
ish Provinces, fetched 28 rials. The stock of Lard
lms increased, being now equal to 7500 kegs ; prices
are a little lower. The supplies of Rice have been ac
cumulating during the recesB, and the article is dull.
There are now 1700 casks Carolina in first hands, and
several more cargoes known to be on the way. The
snles comprised some small parcels Carolina at 10}
rials, and 300 bags Valencia at 10 rials. No W. P.
Lumber has arrived for a long time, and its yalne is
advancing. The only sale was of 50,000 feet from
Portland (which came in some time since) at $221-
1 here have been no further arrivals of P. Pine. The
ihe late supplies of Box Shooks have been moder
ate, but the dealers still keep aloof from the market,
luiviag as yet quite enough for their wants from pre
vious purchases, and their receipts under contract.
Ai few small lots have been purchased by Planters at
nuls for cash and credit, but a buyer could hardly
bo iound at (he moment for a large parcel. There is
an increasing inquiry for Hhd Shooks of both sorts,
the stock ot which is moving oil and the quantity on
hand is not large. We raise our quotations for Mus
covado Shooks, which however only meet with pur
chasers for small parcels; the rate of 16 riuls is for v e-
ry superior quality.
EMPTY CASKS have been arriving freely which
caused tire price to recede a little. Hoops continue
scarce; R. Island were sold at $60 and 1000 14 feet at
*ho 1 some from New Orleans realised $55. Candles
are in good enquiry for both sorts, and prices a little
higher. Oil of both kinds has also advanced still
mure. YVe may remark, that the demand for Whale
'al will slacken, as grinding draws to a close, but
f’Pqrni will bo required in large quantities titan usual
un account of the scarcity of Spanish Oil, which
cems to be owing to the small yield of the OUve crop,

ATGUSTA, April 19— Cotton.—The rapid falling off
in receipts has given hoders much confidence, and as
the bulk of the present stock is in second hands, we
look for but littlo business to he transacted in this ar
ticle until better prices are paid. The receipts at this
point are very light when compared with last year,
and there is but little going forward. The following
quotations will approximate to the prices asked and
paid at the close of business last evening :

The River is now in excellent boating order, and
steamers are doily arriving, heavily laden with goods
for our merchants and those of the interior. There
have been more goods shipped via Savannah this sea
son than for a number of years past We are glad to
to see it. Savannah >s the natural channel, and with
the light draught boats at present on the river, it
must be very low if goods cannot be brought up in
the same time from Savannah, as is now taken by the
South Carolina Railroad,
Deficiencv in the Cotton Chop.—The Macon
Messenger of Wednesday publishes a revised state
ment ot the receipts of Cotton at that place, for the
month of March, by which it appears that the de
crease, as compared with tho month of March last
year is 1,891 bales.
The decrease in the receipts at the ports up to the
latest dates, compared with those of last year, is 488,-
391. The decrease in the exports thus far os compar
ed with the exports up to the same period last year
as 433,818, while the stocks on hand and on ship boari'
up to latest dates shows a decrease of 24,494.
