TEA CULTIVATION IN THE U. STATES.
H AVING received n small supply ol TEA NUTS,
collected at great expense of money und labor,
iu the middle districts of China, from the most cele
brated Ten Plantations of tbe Empire, I am prepared
to fulfil my engagements by accommodating the pub
lic with a share of the Nuts received. My main ob
ject i- to plant and cultivate; hut ns 1 am quite cer
tain that 1 have obtained, after the labor of three
years, the best quality of Ten Nuts, I nm disposed to
meet the wishes ot the public, and to share them
with others.—Tea Nuts gathered in the neighborhood
of Canton are scarcely worth cultivating, on account
of the inferior quality of the Tea. It is obviously the
interest of the planter to submit to an increased ex
pense, to secure n superior quulity of Tea Nut, in es
tablishing a Tea Plantation, whether large or small.
In prosecuting this urduous undertaking, I am in
fact acting ns an agent for tlie benefit ot the public.
Neither tlio State, the publie, or any individual, has
ever extended to me the aid of ft single cent.
For convenience and security, the Nuts will he
packed in tin boxes, and forwarded Irom Greenville,
S. C., by such conveyance and to such address as the
purchaser may direct, to any part ol the U. States.
TEA PLANTS—now on their passage from China,
selected with u single eye to quality, by it gentleman
of largq experience in horticultural pursuits, end per
haps better acquainted with the character ot the Tea
Plant, than any person in Europe or America—will
also be ehared with those desirous ol obtaining a
email supply.
A specification of the soil bestadopted to the growth
of the plant, the mode of planting, cultivating, Sic.
Sic., will ace unpany each percel.
