THE MORNING NEWS.

census just completed-tut increase of 256,965 since
t ecen-us of 1840 This is at the rate of nearly 35
p remit., or in ire than double the average increase
of the five preceding terms of ten years each.
Vibgima Financks.— Che Governor of Virginia,
in bis message in view of the form ill which the pub
lic debt now stands, recommends a complete refor
mation and re-organization of the financial system of

debt should be imp essed. as far as possible, with all

al of the States, has shown that the coupon bond
