A STOUT young man, of a yellowifli complexion,
with a fear on his forehead and upper lip, and a bump
his fliin, ran away from the fubferiber, without any pro
vocation, since last January, is well known in Savannah,
being always employed about house. It is supposed he is
harbored by Negroes in Col. Wylly's swamp, and at Wil
mington, where Capt. Smith plants, and at other illands.
He took with him, amongst other clothesy a clay colored
fiurtout coat.
Jt Dick returns of his own accord his abferice will he o
verlooked; if taken, a reward of 20 dollars will be paid on
delivering him to the Keeper of the Workhotife.

this is the probable motive of the movement of tlie Austrian

Toulon, April *B. Four Frigates, under the orders of
tlie Chief of Division Peirie, have arrived in this port from
Ancona. They have brought naval (lores, very valuable,
from the arsenal of Venice, conlifting of brass cannons,
cables, fads, &c. . *

ftadt to the Directory h<is brought the happy news that the
Deputatio^-of tlie Empire has accepted all the conditions
of peacij proposed by the French Republic. It is said that
‘our Plenipotentiaries will in future aft only as mediators
to fettle ‘thb indertmitie* of the claiming Princes.
It is laid that Tallien- is preparing to accompany Buona
parte to the Mediterranean. He might be more ufeful to
the Legillative Body; and it is matter of aftouiflmient tliat
he Who on the 9th Therniidor so happily joined in saving
trance and his colleagues-has been till now omitted in the
total” reeleftion of the Members of the Convention.

the higher circles, by which they are entering into a so
lemn Engagement for tlie better ohfei-vance of the Sabbath.
It conlilts of fix articles of ielf denial, of the following

This pajx;r, which is now in circulation, has-Veceived the
signatures of a great number of the Dignitaries of the
-Church, and a Committee is formed for deviling’ the best
means of making the -religious observance of tlie Lord’s
Day general throughout- the empire* Many prOpolitions
have been made towards this molt feridu&efld; ‘thrfirft of
which, as it would obvitrtifty strike every oblerver of the
manners of the lower dalles, is, to ftiut up all tiie public
lioules, inns, and taverns, throughout tlx kingdom; and
lecondly, to pals a bill for the’ tripling and quadrupling of
ail turnpikes on that foteinji day, so as to make Sunday
.jaunting too dear for the pockets of'tlie people. Many
other itiggeftions have been made, in which, however, all
the learned- Prelates are not agreed. ‘

June 15. Admiral Jervis failed from Lilbon on the
_2 2d ot April, with 5 Blips of tlie line and several frigates,
on a crude; and on the 28th Admiral Nelfqn failed with
a Iquadron to join Admiral Jcrvri.

The eleftion of Mr. Dexter to the Senate of the United

ftatefinan ought to be. No Federal Senator for this com
monwealth has before been chosen by so large a majority.

A resolve came down from the Hon. Senate, requesting
the Governor to direst the Quartermaster General to pro
vide and mount cannon for the protection of tlie seacoast.
