Mr. IY W. Potter,
Dear Sir—You expreised a wish that 1
would gives concise statement of my suficr-
ings, from' the hopeless commencement, to
the present propitious stage of my disease.’
About five years ago, on my passage from
Bordeaux, during the month of January, from
imprudent exposure on deck, 1 was seised
with a violent fever. Having no medical at
tendant! on board, I waa compelled to bear
it, as I m*ght for two weeks, wheo on my ar-
ivakat CnarleMon, 8. C. it waa treated as
fyphua. The skill of my Physician subdued
the fever, but Pl attix-like, the termination
of this gave riac to a disrate equally distress
ing, and which, till now, I had ih.-ught incu' -
ible. Virous abscesses made their unwel
:ome appearance, particularly on the joints,
which were swe led to an enormous size.—
These gradually subsided into hard tumorr,
one of which on my left knee affected the
bone—an incision waa now made and a large
evacuation of uus, mixed with pieces of bore
took place. In addition to this, I suffered Ihe
most excruciating pains in my joints that mar
ever experienced Every thing that was
sdminivtered either gave me no relief or ser
ved to aggravate the disease, the aeverity of
whi- h increased with every succeeding year
Such wismy painful ai uatiun that 1 despaire,
of ever being restored to my heal h ; I had
not only tried the eirular means of relief,
but used, though in vain, every popular rem
edy 1 co.ild hear of- It was in this awful and
desponding condition,that I waa pers'i ded to
.ommence a course of your Vegetable fb.'h I
icon, and the hannv rerult is, “f om the use
of the two bottles my -whole system has under
gone a complete revo ution, my puins lutV fo sa
ke met" the discharge from my anee bey *
o dimmish, and soon ceased altogether, I
Iilcef from whence it proceeded heing com
pletely healed. The tumors, for the removal
of which I have tried in vain more remedit
than I can name, are rapidly decreasing ; my
appetite, which was gone, has returned—I an
in fact, nearly well, and feel confident that
few bottles more of your, (to me) invaluable
medicine, will mike me perfectly so.
Your obliged friend,

I esteem Dr. Scott's Family Bible, emin-ntiy
calculated to promote the cause of truth tnd

read daily the Note! and Observations in the
Family Bible without becoming a wiser snd

It is t work distinguished for the simplici

clnarneu and fidelity of ita expositions, the
neatness and perspicuity of its style, the De-

I know of no Commentary which is bitter
calculated for difiusing correct views of til)
great truth* of Christianity, and leaving saiu-

No writer si ems leas disposed to contend

From particular eximinati in, and concur
