This new and elegant rstab
lishment, will be open for the re-
eption of company as usuui, next
season. The quality of the wa
ter is becoming so well known, in conse
quence of the great numbers of persons who
used aud received benefit from them the last
season, that the subscriber deems it scarce
ly necessary to enter into a detail of their
properties and effects. He will, however,
for the information of., those who may still
remain unacquainted with them, remark,
that there are two springs—the waters of
one of which, are strongly impregnated with
sulphur and magnesia—the other with iron.
The first acts on some as a mild, on others,
as an active cathartic, and are strongly re
commended in complaints of the liver and
kidneys, dispen**.: and in all diseases aris'
ing from b disordered stomach. They at
once remove indigestion and the cause by
which it is produced, restore lost uppetite,
purify the blood, aud exhiliuratc the spirits.
In cases of debility and weakness, they have
been found particularly eflicucion£. The
waters of the other spring are slrongly ton
ic, am! thought very proper to be used after
drinking the sulphur water. To promote
the effects of each, hot, cold and shower
baths arc provided.
The buildings of this establishment, as
mentioned in a former advertisement, are
all of brick, and in an eminent degree unite
neatness, convenience and comfort. These
points have been particularly attended to
in those departments intended for the use
of ladies or families. The adjacent moun»
tains abounding in game, gentlemen fond
of hunting, will have an opportunity of i
dulging in that pursuit. Those preferring
more inactive amusements, will find news*
papers books, chessmen* backgammon ta
bles, &c.
Aimicicments also for the ladies have not
been overlooked: Music of the best kind
will he provided for dancing—and such as
are fond of playing on the Forte Piano, will
find in the drawing room ail elegant one
provided for their use. Moderate exercise
on horseback or in carriages, being consid
ered very proper whilst using the waters,
the subscriber takes this occasion to remark

though I have received a note signed by
that the part of the country in which his i.Jfr. Snell, i. e. by making his mark, given

Gentlemen from the South, wishing to
dispense with the use of carriages und hor

incurring the expense of either—they will
proceed by water from Savannah, Charles

thence in tlie steam-boat to Richmond, from
whence there is twice a week, a mail stage
that now passes within two miles of this
place, and ufter the 15th of June, will
come directly to the spot, passing through
the flourishing town of Lynchburg. After
arriving here and remaining as long as
is agreeable, they can then proceed to any
of the adjacent springs they may choose in
a hack kept by tlie subscriber for that pur
pose. The distance to the Sweet Springs,
is thirty seven miles—to the White Sulphur,
fifty-live—?o the Sweet nnd Salt Suphur,

and to the Hot anil Warm Springs, between
sixty and seventy miles.
It is recommended to gentlemen intend
ing to visit any of the Virginia Watering
Places, to hove their letters addressed lo
the Botetourt Springs. It being the first wa
tering plae they will touch at in going, and
the last in returning, they will experience
great convenience in following these direc
tions—because on their arrival they may
find letters from home, nnd during their
stay, will have an opportunity of hearing
from their friends every other day, as the
mail from the South arrives three times a
week. If after remaining with the subscri

choose to proceed to any of the neighbor

shall be carefully forwarded, whithersoever
