BUTLER’S
F OR the cure of Coldf, Coughs, Coiwump*

uiSe-.sc* of tbe breast and lungs.
There.is perhaps no medical observation
better established, none more generally con
firmed by the experience of the best physics
ansof all ages and countries, and none ol
.nore importance the human family* than
* lie fact that many of the most difficult and in
curable consumption! originate in neglected
colds.. In a climate so variable as ours, where
ihe changes of the weather are frequently
sudden and unexpected, it requires more care
and attention to guard againat this dangerous
enemy of life, than most people imagine or
«re able and willing to bestow. 'I he bills ol
mortality exhibit the melancholy fact that the
proportion of deaths by this disease may be
con*idercd as about five to one. Inasmuch
then as this fatal disease frequently bj ls defi
ance to the skill of the most learned phys.ci*
ans, it is a gratification to the proprietor that
he is enabled to offer to those ciflioled with
it. a gocdly prospect of relief, io that highly
valuable remedy, the Vegetable Indian Speci
fic. The Indiana are happy in their know-
tedge of medical plants; governed wholly by
experience, they are certain ■■ to their effect,
and it ii said by an author of great character,
that a true consumption is a disease never
known among them.
This Specific is obtained by extrsetioa from
herbs, roots, flowers, plants, &c. when in per
fection. In consequence of a happy combina
tion of the most valuable herbs, &c. it becomes
h balsam of a superior value. It heals the in
jured parts, opens the pores, and composes
(ha disturbed nerves, after the manner of an
anodyne/ consequently the obstruction ol
the ches and the lungs which constitute th,s
disease, particular iy need its use. It promotes
expectoration, which is constantly called for,
and whilst it cleanses and beais, it also gives
strangth to tbe tender lungs In this munnej
it removes the hectic »c. r er, improves diges
tion, gives strength to the nerves, repairs ihe
appetite ar.d improves the spirits. Tins speci
lie msv always be given in safety it is mild,
piefiMot to the taste, ami may safely be given
o infants, for which it is of inestimable value.
It aff ords relief in bowel complaints, trething,
whooping coughs, ifc. and is found particu
larly useful in hypochondriacal, nervous ami
hysterical diseases. Each bill ol direction
contains a detailed account of this disease in
nil its different Btuges, and will bo accompa
