shall never have. I built it. for my self; not
for them. And if I bail the abilities and per
severance to build a Town, they will find that
I have abilities and perseverance enough
to take care of it.

Several now Stores have already opened, and
others will open very shortly. Tho usual
spirited disposition prevails to give ns hereto,
forc.nt least ns much, if yot more, for
COTTON, than in any other city or town
in the up country. .
As for money, none will bn countenanced
unless it is founded on a solid basis; and
should nny other be taken in the market, or
fdiould any monied institution in which t ho
market and country are interested, go be
yond what might bo considered just nud pru
dent, immediate notice of it will bo given
without fear or favor.
Under airthese favorable circumstances I
am induced to hope that the community and
country generally, will find it, to their

W E have long thought that a wcehlv pub
lication, entirely dovoted to light and
miscellaneous literature, would meet with a
ready and liberal patronage in this commu
nity. V/e now make the experiment.—

tention very selfishly to the wants and re
quirements of their own sex, leaving unnoti
ced that finer portion of creation to the a-
nmsomont nnd instruction of which, as well
as that of our own order, our labors shall in
future bo equally directed. To them, there
