the Chronicle and Sentinel into the Bun of yesterday,
came to his house on ttaturfiay. tbe 10th ins taut, and
requested Mr*. Booth to allow her to remain over
night, saying aha bad no home, and tolling the same
tale about her birth, the death of her parents, Ac.,
which she told in Augusta. Bhe said she had been
staying in th* country, had beoume bred of it and
had ootno to the city on a wood-wagou. Bhe was
dressed with moderate neatnaee, and seemed to be
sprightly and intelligent.
Bhe remained at Mr. Booth’s house till Tuesday
following. Meantime, Rev. Mr. Dickey, Pastor of
Xvana* Chapal, became Interest* d in the little or*
orphan waif, and procured for her a home with Mr.
and Mrs. Cope*, who were pleased with her aud gla-i
to take her as one of their family. She remained
with them two days. While they were both absent
on Thursday following, and she left alone, she lock

carrying with her a pretty little canary bird, which
waa a great favorite with Mrs. Copes, aud uothiug
