morning. He was found guilty, and was
sentenced to two years in the penitentia
ry. The trial lasted nino days. This is
his third, kaviug keen twice convicted
and once hung the jury, when there was
eleven for conviotion and one for acquit
tal Another attempt will be made by
his counsel for a new trial.

jury in the Bright perjury case, regarding
the Statu printing, was discharged after
forty-eight hours session. They stood
eight to four for acquittal.

should procure, by power el Attorney,
from sucli payeo or puytos, lo cualdo
them to collect tho November interest.
Should it lio impossible to do this the
bonds may lie sent any timo prior to No
vember 1st te the loan division of this
office, properly assigned to the Treasury
for redemption, where they will bo held,
and the name of the proper owner placed
upon a special schedule for November in
terest. On or after December 1st the
bonds will lie redeemed and tlio interest
which shall have accrued from November
let to December 1st properly adjusted.

Rye is nearly an average: the heaviest
depreciation is in New York, nay is re
duced in quantity, but is hotter in quality;
Georgia and Arkansas are above the
average. Irish Potatoes arc about the
average. Sweet Potatoes are full between
New York and Virginia, but below the
average in the Southern States. Thirty
per cent, on an average product of sugar
may be expected.
Federal Judge Underivood, of Virginia,
has written n letter indicating that if a
case were made, ho will dccido that tho
14th and 15th Amendments and the En
forcement Act confer 4ho right of suf
frage upon women.

The barometer has fallen slightly since
Saturday afternoon on the California
coast. No reports have been received
from Lako Superior and Minnesota, hut
it is probable that tho barometer has
risen in that region, and the area of lowest
pressure, which has remained north of
tho lakes, has moved north-eastward.—
The barometer has fallen very generally
tho Southern and Gulf States. Heavy
and smoky weather has continued from
Virginia to Missouri aud north; clear
cathcr in the interior of the Southern
aud Gulf Stab s, with threatening weather
and slight rain this afternoon ou the im
mediate South Atiuntic and Florida
coast, and a decided fall in temperature.
Tho temperature lias risen iu tho Middle
aud Eastern States. Brisk winds from
tho north-west have probably passed over
Lake Huron to Western New York.—
Elsewhere light winds prevail.
Probabilities.
Continued hazy oiul clear weather is
probable, for Monday, from the Middle
aud Eastern States to Texas, and also
westward to tho Mississippi valley.—
Cloudiness, with light rain, will probably
continue from Florida to Virginia and ofl'
the middle Atlantic coast, but no exten
ded disturbance apprehended, unless,
probably, at a considerable distance east
of Georgia.
